Had a pleasant stay here, for a night! Room appeared to be clean, and the ensuite bathroom was well kept albeit small. The room felt pleasantly nostalgic in it decor, and the overall decor was friendly and homely. The manager on site was informative and friendly, and checked us in very quickly even before the usual check-in time. Would stay here again!
Absolutely AWFUL experience, DON’T BOOK IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER 9pm!!! I booked via booking, called the hotel to explain I was arriving late due to cancellation of trains from the city I came from. They told me it was fine but it would be a different staff on call, and they would charge an extra £20, there will be a number on the property. I arrived. They left me outside stranded, no one answered the phone or messages or emails. See photos below. Worst booking experience I’ve had.
Dirtiest and noisiest place I have ever stayed in. Rooms are small, covered in dust and debris, and rubbish left from previous guests. Only the bed linen were freshly changed. The bathroom doors don't close, and the shower has loads of rust, black mold and is just not clean. Windows are bolted shut, however they remain open and there is no way to close nor open them manually. We tried to talk to the woman in reception, and said after 7-8 years working there these issues have never been brought up. She went on about how much money they spent on refurbishing the place. We inquired about the room we booked, she confirmed pictures in Booking.com are several years old, and they don't have any intention to change them. She then had a phone call with someone speaking loudly from reception about the fact we came to complain, and saying she priced rooms low so that "guests don't have high expectations". We are never coming back to this attempt of a guesthouse, and I would strongly recommend anyone to stay far from them too.
I had a wonderful four-night stay at the Hudson Hotel. The room was spacious and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, including an en suite bathroom, a hairdryer, and a TV. It was nice to have daily refreshed water bottles, along with plenty of tea and coffee. The host, Sandra, was incredibly kind and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place!
Really good little guesthouse, the lady was very helpful and very polite. Parking I suggest bingo and paying as there’s none of the road, only downfall. Location is good, about 10 mins to pier. Really clean and tidy room, the only issue was the noise from the person upstairs however that’s not Hudsons fault. Good stay and would definitely return especially for the cost!
Really shabby decor, nothing like website. Bed must have been broken as dipped in centre so both had very bad nights sleep. Expected much better quality & decor considering price. It was called ‘ the suite ‘ which we thought was a rather liberal description to say the least. Very tiny bathroom with nowhere to put anything. However, the room was very clean and we were able to park outside paying for a parking permit which was very handy.
I would give this guest house a Nil star rating except I can't complain about the location, or the cleanliness of the room, but that's where it ends. Having read reviews and looked at pictures online we were expecting good things but as it turned out we were massively disappointed (and I would love to know where all these positive reviews have come from because they bear no resemblance to the actual hotel). If we hadn't be so time constrained I would have simply walked out and gone elsewhere the moment I walked through the front door, and it didn't get any better. The whole place has the feel of a student residence and it seems to be in the same sort of repair. There's no reception and as you walk in there's a small shelf on the wall in the hallway that's overloaded with clutter. The carpet in the carpet in the stairwell is heavily stained and there was DIY stuff and cleaning equipment cluttering the landings, along with a pervasive musty smell. Our room was classed as a family room with a tiny bathroom in which the door was too small for the frame. The decor was very old and tired with loose cables trailing down the walls and around the edges of the room and the furniture was a collection of cheap and mismatched items. The bed was an old pine bed, with a decent enough mattress except that the slats on the bed were bowed, which meant you had to cling to the side of the bed or roll into the middle when trying to sleep. Our room overlooked the guest house back garden, which was actually a scrap metal yard or so it seemed, as there was so much rubbish in it. Had we been charged £50 a night I would probably still have quibbled a bit but at £140 a night I expected a much high quality of accommodation. I argued with the owner that we were overcharged and her defence was that I was clearly racist.....what a lovely lady. So if you want a place that's clean and close to the beach and don't mind being charged exorbitant prices to stay in student digs, then I guess you'll love it.
Really lovely hotel close by the sea. We were welcomed by the owner. She made us feel welcome. Nice steady bed!
Amazing location at a short walking distance from the beach. The room was clean and spacious with an en-suite bathroom with shower. There was also a fan provided which was very convenient after realising how hot it gets in Brighton during the day (relative I know). Even though I didn’t get a chance to stay in (if it had rained for example) I would have been very happy to stay in the room all day! Stayed for 2 nights after extending the stay on the first morning and the lovely lady was very nice by giving good suggestions for places to visit. Will most likely stay here for my next visit:))
I loved this hotel! The location was wonderful, close to the beach and attractions. We stayed there over the weekend and found the room clean and tidy, airy and neat. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Can't recommend enough!
