Have stayed here a couple times before. The location is good, though you are right next to Chalk (nightclub) so can be a bit loud at night, but not too bad. Private rooms are a decent size, needs a deep clean though, bed is pretty basic and the bathroom is a bit dated. Unfortunately though, during my last visit, a member of staff (Scottish Male) was very rude, unwelcoming and unfriendly, which is a shame as other members of staff seemed to be quite friendly.

Excellent stay in a prime Brighton location I had a very pleasant stay at a&o Brighton Beach. The location is outstanding — right in the heart of Brighton, just steps from the beach, the pier, and the city’s vibrant streets. The rooms were clean, functional, and well maintained, offering great value for money. What really stood out was the friendly, professional staff, who made check-in and the overall stay smooth and welcoming. This is a well-run hostel with a relaxed atmosphere, solid facilities, and an unbeatable location. If you’re looking for a central, affordable, and reliable place to stay in Brighton, this is an easy recommendation.

Amazing Hostel, couldn’t ask for a better location. Friendly staff. Massive common area with full bar, snacks, cheap breakfast. Steps from the pier, fish & chip shops and nightclubs. Extra shout out to Kate, Marlo and Dan, truly great hosts!! Would leave 6 stars if I could. The staff are fabulous and answered my millions of questions with huge smiles. Definitely the best hostel experience I’ve had in the UK. Will be booking here any time I’m in Brighton!!!

The good: The view from our room was amazing. We had a clear view over the Brighton coast and a small view of the sea from our room. The bed was relatively comfortable and the room was spacious, but that’s where the pleasantries end. The bad: Our first shock of the trip comes from when we entered the door, and we were made aware it was a hostel, not a hotel. There was extremely little advertising that this was not a hotel, and after looking at other reviews, this seems to be a common complaint. After this shock, we sat down in the lobby as we had arrived quite early (that’s not their fault to be fair). We asked roughly when the room would be ready and we were met with so much uncertainty we were worried we’d even booked the room. We then tried to check in after roughly 2 hours of waiting for the room to be ready, only to be met with surprise forms and ID checks. This is our first time travelling together, so this may be common place practice, yet the service was quite frankly rude and mean. We asked why we had to do this and we were met with a face being pulled and a very abrupt “Just do it.” After another hour of filling in forms, we finally arrived at our room, and in their favour, the room was initially quite good. It was spacious and the bed was comfy, yet then we entered the bathroom, and found that the bathtub was out of order, but more on that later. We then checked the shower, only to find that the shower head could not stay up on its own. After requesting a fix from the desk and waiting another two hours, our request was fixed, so props to them for that. Now, we had paid extra for breakfast and, if I’m honest, we were not pleased. The food was luke warm at best, and the general selection was just poor. A weird mix between a full English breakfast and a continental breakfast. This just irked us the wrong, and really cemented a 2/5 for us. The ugly: Now, as mentioned before the bath was out of order, and after a quick glance inside, it was made apparent this was because of a mysterious substance that was inside the tub. I don’t know wether the cleaning staff didn’t want to or couldn’t get it out (I don’t know which is worse) but we had paid for a bathtub, and so we expected a bathtub. We will be enquiring as to a partial refund for this, as the room in total cost us ~£130 for the night. After doing some research ourselves, we found a travel lodge room for a family of 4 costing the same. And I bet they at-least had a working shower at time of check in.

Rooms are clean, with a large bathroom. Staff was very nice, the bar/lounge area is very enjoyable as well and you couldn't find a better location if you tried. It is literally right on the beach front. There are no lockers in the rooms though (at least mine didn't have any).

A really lovely city YHA hostel Clean, good location, nice staff and better dorm rooms than most other YHAs. I can't understand the negative reviews about cleanliness, staff rudeness or excessive noise. I stayed on a Saturday night, and whilst there is some street noise until late, all but the lightest of sleepers wouldn't be disturbed by it. I would have given 4 stars in view of no kitchen, but because the lack of a kitchen is a temporary thing, and the otherwise excellence of the hostel, I feel 5 stars is deserved (assuming kitchen will come back eventually

I highly recommend this place if you want decent, cheap and comfy place to stay in the city. It’s less than 10 min from the train station and close to some really cool bars. I can’t comment on the atmosphere in the place as I didn’t spend anytime on the common areas.

Stayed in a private room which was huge and spotless with a nice sized bathroom. Bed was comfy, staff were all so fantastic and the location is perfect. I even had a view of the pier!

This is an ideal and inexpensive place to stay in Brighton. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable. I really liked the bathroom - it corresponds to the level of the hotel, but not the hostel. The staff were very friendly, even though my English is very bad. Thank you very much!

I can't fault this place for the price. It's right by the beach front and much cheaper than the nearby hotels. The room was clean, there's a well priced bar and the staff were also really friendly and helpful. You can add late check out at 12 for £15 as well which was helpful.
