We recently purchased a Quickstep floor from Hamiltons and the experience was a good one until the floor arrived. As our builder started to lay it, he discovered cracks in the floor. We called Hamiltons straight away and were advised to take photos which we did. On seeing the photos, Andrew at Hamiltons said the ‘rep’ had said it was a manufacturing fault and they would engage with Quickstep. We had to chase Hamiltons for an update and I was told ‘Andrew is on the phone right now dealing with it’ and ‘we’re on your side, we see the issue with it.’ More photos were requested which we sent today. The photos show the floor is clearly cracked. On sending the photos, I called Hamiltons again - I was asked to speak with Jordan who started the conversation with ‘are you ok?’ as though we haven’t had an ongoing issue with a cracked floor for almost 3 weeks. Quickstep and Hamiltons are now claiming the floor is ‘rustic’ and it should have cracks. We have photos of the website at the point of sale and ‘rustic’ is not mentioned - nor are ‘cracks’. Importantly, the photos show a completely smooth floor. I should note - Jordan didn’t take the time to look at the several photos sent today before telling me I lacked ‘common sense’. Apparently, he can’t do anything because the floor has been laid. I have told Hamiltons on at least 3 occasions the builder was doing his best to cut out the faulty cracks and was keeping those off cuts to one side. He stopped when he reached about 1.5 packs in size and put the rest on the skip. At no point, did Hamiltons tell us to stop laying the floor. Bottomline, Quickstp won’t admit the floor is faulty, as such Hamiltons are gaslighting me into thinking the floor is as it should be. It cost almost £3,000. My builder recommended Hamiltons - he will spread the word about what’s happened here amongst the builder community. To anyone thinking about purchasing a floor from them, I would strongly advised against it. We understand problems can occur, a company can be measured on how well they deal with it.

A friend recommended Hamiltons and we are very glad she did! So many different options - James was great at explaining all the different types of flooring and helping us find what worked for us. Danny, who came to lay the floor, was polite and professional (and tidied thoroughly every day) - it looks amazing! Friends have already been asking about who did it and where we bought the floor

James Hamilton was great in helping us select the right floor for our new home, and the carpenter and flooring specialist, Danny, did a terrific job installing our new floors. He was punctual, efficient, tidy and friendly. Couldn't have asked for better service. And we're thrilled with how our house looks now!

Nice floor. In-house fitting we felt very overpriced (1 person for 1 day) albeit good - £650 (we presumed it would be 2 people turning up at that rate!). Unfortunate experience with the person who we understand to be the ‘owner’ being told that we were wasting his time 5 minutes into a face to face conversation is not quite the response we were expecting when attempting to civilly sort out a query (whether he saw the query as valid or not!). Problem in the end was dealt with ‘professionally’ by another member of his team (who obviously has met their website claim ‘specially trained to communicate and listen to our customers’). Would have liked to have had a good experience and given 5 stars, but have been left feeling very deflated by our after-sales experience. UPDATE - 7 DECEMBER FOLLOWING BUSINESS RESPONSE.... Would love to go into detail regarding the query, but suffice to say – just 1 board out of the WHOLE 22m² floor had a large ‘chiselled’ dug out knot – in a very noticeable place (we were told the floor would have random ones throughout the boards) – there were no others (unfortunately) – and therefore, to us, looked odd! We felt we gave a factual review (ie Share your opinion to help others make better informed purchasing decisions, and help businesses provide a better service), but just in case, we will clarify: Does it look nice - YES Was fitting expensive – YES – over double what we recently paid for both an experienced floor fitter and carpenter per day – we were under the impression it was 2 people coming out ….. and the ‘mistaken’ view that if we had in-house any queries/problems would be more likely to be sorted easily. Has it added value – YES – about what it cost! Were you happy with service you were provided – NO – but we did make clear in the review the fact that another member of staff tried to make things better… Did your colleague really waste his time?? his attitude improved the review we would have given – he was polite, helpful, noticed and fixed the issue (better than it looked) and advised on a couple of other minor queries we had – job done, customers .. happier. Just think how happy we would have been if this had happened right from our first, very polite, querying email and how much time and energy would have saved without having (what must have been a very onerous task) the job of giving brief replies to 3 emails, a 1 minute phone call and a 5 minute visit. Could Hamilton’s have got more stars – YES - It must have been quite obvious that we were not happy with how we had been treated - we are quite thick skinned and have come across some ‘interesting’ characters in our time, but even we were shocked at the way we were spoken to! (we haven’t included everything we experienced above, as it would make even longer read!). We understand ‘sorry’ seems to be the hardest word for some - a lot of companies use a phrase similar to …. ‘We are sorry that on this occasion our customer service did not meet your expectations’, but somehow, we rather feel that this may be just a little too painful and waste more of your ‘time and energy’ – so we will just look at our floor with fondness and thank you very much for allowing us to spend the best part of £3k with your esteemed company – we are so sorry that on this occasion ‘your customers did not meet your expectations’!

Excellent service and a very helpful team available to advise over the telephone. I have had some bad experiences with other flooring providers, who often take in the orders and the payments and later inform the customers that the product will not be available for several months. Hamilton's have been very upfront and accurate about what is available in their stock and what is not. Although they did not have the exact product that I was looking for, they recommended an alternative which was very similar. In reality, when the product arrived, it was actually almost the same. I therefore really applaud their services - particularly their knowledgeable staff - and highly recommend this company.

We purchased our flooring from Hamiltons Flooring - Jaeger was so helpful. Needing a hard wearing flooring for our restaurant Jaeger was able to suggest the best product and finish for us to use for years to come. Even down to the maintenance and the after care products we should be using. We wanted a floor that looked as though it had been there for a while and it does - we love it. It's perfect and meets every need that we had! Thank you to your whole team!

I’ve dealt with so many trades throughout our full house renovation and honestly the most helpful and best service so far has been with Hamilton’s. Jaeger from the very beginning has responded so quickly and answered lots of questions, they delivered samples incredibly fast and provided the flooring itself within a few days - even during lockdown! We had a supply issue with another company And had to cancel an order and Hamilton’s came to save the day. We ended up changing our floor choice and I couldn’t be happier. We went for the beautiful Panaget Authentic Bois Flottè Diva 184 wood floor and I originally assumed it would be out of our price range but actually a very reasonable price for stunning french oak flooring. Overall, really pleased with the service and wish all the best to Jaeger and the Hamilton’s team.

Excellent customer service. Tony helped me buy some (more) lovely oak doors. I have bought before and will do so again. Great Value and quick delivery. All cut to specific sizes as our home is a Grade II listed 16th century old farm house. Thanks, Paul
