I just completed part 2 of the Competent Crew course. I really enjoyed both parts and feel excited to get going on the next course. Carolyn was great as the instructor, providing the knowledge, practical examples and support throughout the course… Also on hand to provide a supportive nudge, to challenge yourself, where necessary. This was much appreciated, thank you!

We had such a fun, exhilarating and insightful time on the power boats today. It was just the two of us and Matt made it such an enjoyable experience with a mix of high speeds, laughs and interesting facts about Brighton (which were new to us despite being locals!). A whole new world of sailing courses await now!

Just two months ago I could not imagine I will be learning sailing, windsurfing and wakeboarding. And if it wasn’t for the Brighton Boating and the Hove Lagoon Watersports combined club membership, and their incredible and committed staff, I would have never discovered that all of these are possible, and all what you need is just a will to learn, and they will provide the rest. For someone with little to none experience in any of these water sports (and they offer way more), within two months and with affordable monthly membership payments, I have been on quite a few yacht and keelboat sailing sessions learning on the go, dinghy sailing at the Lagoon as part of RYA Sailing Level 1, completed RYA Sailing Level 2 on a keelboat, and now progressing with the RYA Day Skipper course which includes Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses (living on a yacht), and a Day Skipper theory course and exam (hoping to get Day Skipper certificate in the next couple of months, weather and time allowing). At the same time, I have also been progressing at the Lagoon in windsurfing (from not been able to balance on the board to actually windsurfing), in wakeboarding on a zipwire (I can now do some corners, tried switches and olies – and I didn’t even know this sport existed!). Absolutely amazing place with great management and friendly and caring staff. Special shouts are going to Seb - the ‘big boss’ for making it all running and for caring for the customers and staff; to Alex, Bill and Reuben - my sailing instructors I most sailed and took my RYA course with; all the instructors and staff at the Brighton Boating and the Hove Lagoon Watersport (will run out of space if I list all of them and worried that I accidently miss any but they are all great, friendly and professional)! You can either do pay as you go sessions for most of the activities or, as I did, get a membership (various options available depending on the activities you are interested in) and get the most out of it. No equipment/gear are needed, they literally provide everything. Give it a try, I bet you will fall in love with the place and people as I did! Thank you all! UPD Just completed 5-day residential Practical Day Skipper course. I would like to say huge thank you to our instructor, Simon, for passing to us his vast knowledge and experience in sailing! It was invaluable experience for me. Simon was our mentor, teacher, skipper, friend, and the chef! at the same time, challenging us, supporting, praising, making sure we all had equal opportunity to practice until we were satisfied with our results. Thank you Simon!

We had the most amazing time today - still buzzing and didn’t want it to end. Thank you Adam and Liam who were brilliant instructors and also captured the moments for us while we were hurtling across the water. Highly recommend.

This experience was fantastic. The experienced skipper, Rob, took us out on the power boat and gave it the beans. Not for the faint of heart but if you enjoy the thrill of fast paced water sport, then this is for you

Did the sailing rya level 1 course at the weekend. We had Nial as our instructor. He was very professional, calm and really gave us a great introduction into sailing a keel boat. Thank you!

Booked paddle boarding for a group of hens traveling from Ireland. James and Josh were great fun & really helpful. Great facilities- clean with great equipment. The staff were lovely and it was just a fantastic morning- could not recommend high enough!

We had such a great few hours out on the water. We decided quite last minute but Pheobe was really helpful in sorting everything out for us. All the kit was in fantastic condition, and the boat handled beautifully - which given the 20knot winds made us feel much more confident that we would otherwise! Tom, the chief instructor came out with us and struck exactly the right balance between giving us help and pointers, and letting us just enjoy the water on our own. Overall, an excellent experience!
