Honestly, I don't think we have been to a pub with more friendly staff than the ones we experienced when we went for lunch on a Saturday just before Christmas for a family birthday. We were 20 people and had a super side area so we could have two tables - grown-ups and kids. The staff were just so welcoming and friendly - nothing was a problem. Every drink - great range - and meal - which were all delicious - were served with a smile - at at one of their busiest times of the year. It was so refreshing to experience. Big thank you to the whole team for accommodating us. It was so refreshing and made the whole birthday celebration all the more special.

Had our work Christmas lunch at The George Inn, Maulden and it was excellent from start to finish. The food was delicious, well presented, and full of flavour – proper festive comfort done really well. Service was friendly, attentive, and well organised despite it being a busy time of year, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a Christmas get-together with colleagues. A great venue for group lunches and celebrations

Went for an impromptu meal on a weekday evening. Restaurant was very quiet and they had no trouble seating two of us. My husband chose a lamb shank that was perfectly cooked and he loved. I chose a veggie curry… which was okay… but nothing special. Not very tasty - just bland Expected a bit more as previous meals have been special. This was very average. Service wasn’t amazing considering we were practically the only people there bar one other table. Lovely setting and based on previous visits we will likely visit again - but this occassion was disappointing Coincidentally my friend was staying in the accomodation. Loved the room and her stay was very quiet

Lovely place to have an early evening meal. Attractive builiding, lovely internal decor and a good menu choice. The quality of food was very good and was good value for money. Staff were fabulous and provided really good service. Definitely worth a return visit.

Following a negative review about a visit on 9th October, The George reached out to offer a voucher to have us try again and have a better experience, so we gratefully accepted. We went today and had a booking in the covered courtyard. Upon entry we were greeted warmly and staff seemed pleasant. We ordered at the till and our allergy requirements were met promptly as staff checked with the kitchen. The food was brought to us in good time and clearly marked for allergies with flags. The food was overall good, I would note that a regular serving of a roast dinner only comes with a very small jug of gravy, so I am happy that I ordered extra which suited me well. The gravy in particular is very nice and rich. My husband ordered Parmesan truffle fries which he found to be too strong in flavour to finish. Once we received our food, no staff returned to check if our food was ok, or to clear our plates. This was for approximately 1.5 hours. It was definitely an improvement since our last visit, however, improvement still needs to be made in our opinion. We were the only people sat in the courtyard for the majority of the time that we were there, the music was off and it felt a bit strange, especially without staff presence. It appears that hospitality is still lacking in areas. Thank you for the opportunity for us to try it again.

Really spacious and well appointed. Loads of different areas to eat and drink in. Food is great - generous portions and very tasty. Pizzas have a light base and interesting toppings, and the lamb burger is a class act. Staff are attentive, and took great care of our 18 month old nephew. It's obvious that there's been a lot of investment in this pub, and in all the right places. A class act.

If you are looking for a vibrant environment with uplifting music or if you are just looking for a relaxed lunch, you can have both. We entered, asked for a quiet table, which we got and enjoyed our lunch. Very friendly staff, warm and inviting decorations, food and drinks arrived quickly. The food was simple pub food but very delicious. Sometimes simple food well executed is the way to go. But the chef could be more brave and try something new, I’m sure it would be amazing. :)

Stayed here as part of a wedding party for 2 nights. Firstly, we arrived and the light switch was not working in the room, it was really quickly rectified by the gentleman that I spoke to. The staff were all super accommodating the whole weekend, especially as we rushed around getting ready for the wedding, even opening the bar for us a little early so we could have a drink before walking to the church. The rooms are great, especially in summer as they are right next to the beer garden! The food here is also fantastic, I really can't say anything bad about the bar or hotel side of this business at all. Thank you for having us all! It was a great weekend. Will definitely stay again.

A great country pub to visit. The food on offer was of good quality and presented well and the vibe inside was cosy but modern. Would recommend if you’re in the area.

Relaxing atmosphere, attentive staff, varied menu. I had pizza, my guests chose sea-bream and burgers. I have rule that on this day I broke. Only order speciality foods from specialist restaraunts i.e. curry from an Indian restaurant, noodles from a Chinese restaurant and in this case pizza from a Pizzeria. The secret to a good pizza is the base, unfortunately this one was doughy and bland, I ate about a slice and lost my appetite for the rest. If it wasn't for the fact that the pizza boasted one of my favourite toppings, Njuda sausage, I would have selected the sea-bream. My guests saw my dissatisfaction and offered me sample bites from their dishes. The sea-bream was a large fillet and the cream sauce was delicately flavoured, the burger was meaty and succulent, looks like the pizza was the only disappointing dish. The waitress while clearing the table, offered to box my leftover pizza for take-away. When I declined and relayed her my experience, she hurried off and spoke to the manager. Without any quibbling, the manager deducted the cost of the pizza from my bill; top marks for customer service. Overall a pleasent experience.
