    Paid for personal effects to be shipped door-to-door from the UK to Dubai, supposedly including full destination services, customs clearance, delivery and unpacking. You can imagine my surprise when the delivery van showed up in Dubai demanding more money, holding my household effects hostage until I paid up. When I asked what the charge was for, and explained that I had paid for a door-to-door service, I was given no explanation and told to just pay up. When I refused, they threatened to take my things away (by that time, my flat screen TV and a few boxes were already laid out on the floor in front of my building) I paid under protest and called ALS to sort out the issue, only to be given conflicting messages as to the reason that I was being charged, with ALS claiming it was a customs charge and the local agent here in Dubai saying it was for haulage and transportation. To add insult to injury (literally!) I am now receiving insulting emails from ALS World Movers accusing me of being, and I quote, "aggressive, irrational, obsessive, confrontational and a bully". Stay well away.
