We downsized and moved from a beamed Cheshire cottage into a new build in East Sussex and thankfully called into Carvills while exploring Uckfield as we were looking for home furnishings more appropriate to our new house. They sell made to measure curtains and blinds and the bright and welcoming shop is full of items from diffusers to lampshades, from bedding to gifts. Best impromptu decision ever! It’s family owned and run. The staff were respectful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We not only found, with help, the bedroom lampshades we were looking for, we also started talking blinds. Mark Arno was brilliant, knowledgable and helpful. A home visit was quickly arranged and decisions made. Richard Arno fitted them and explained clearly how to operate them. No dramas, no fuss just a professional, efficient, friendly service. We were also looking for a light over the kitchen island and they had the perfect one but we wanted a different colour. They weren’t made! Did that matter…… Mark said he knew someone who might be able to paint it. He could and we now have the only black and silver light of its kind in the world! Carvills offer a service seldom found in this day and age. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

I recently used Carvills to purchase my new lounge curtains. From first point of contact within the shop to the finished product, I couldn't be happier. Mark visited me at my home, his knowledge and expertise was second to none. Richard installed the pole and hung them, an art in itself. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend them. Excellent selection of items in this lovely shop. Unfortunately not good if you have a pram or wheelchair as there are lots of different levels with steps. Not easy to get around.

Visited Carvills this morning to look for some wallpaper, I had been looking forward to it all week as I loved this shop, I was told by an assistant I would need to make an appointment. I have worked in interiors all my life and never heard of that. We went to Brewers, we were allowed to look at all the books order as many samples as we liked free of charge and no restrictions.
Fabulous place!! Really lovely staff. I'd highly recommend especially for gifts but I know that their speciality is home furnishings. Run by the same family since 1770.
Just the best in the business delivering expert advice, great style and fabulous finish to all their work. I have had curtains, blinds, sofas upholstered and on each occasion they have been timely with delivery and charming. Completely trustworthy, sensible and professional.
