The staff are professional; however, the system is extremely poor. You cannot take a car at 8:30 am and simply say it will be ready by 6:00 pm. There should be a proper scheduling system in place, with clearly defined time slots for accepting and returning vehicles. Also, when you give an appointment and keep a customer’s vehicle, please ensure that the agreed work is actually carried out. It should not matter if extra work has been taken on or if someone is off. When a customer drops off their vehicle, it means they have made arrangements based on that commitment. When the agreed work is not completed, the customer is forced to make the same arrangements again, which costs money and causes inconvenience.

Avoid this garage-will rip you off!!! Failed MOT - same reasons as other reviewers on here. Side indicators wrong colour, tires bulging , brake pads and discs, engine warning light. They were super amused to quote me £2000 worth of work plus would need to go to manufacturers garage for engine warning light diagnostic and resolution. All the while messing around on phones and dealing with wrong parts ordered for other customers' cars. Had to repeatedly prompt them to carry out the service already paid for in the bargain Service & MOT and my first experience of waiting from 8:30 until 5pm to get my car back from a service & MOT. Booked my car to HiQ for work and told they believe only thing that should have failed the MOT was the engine light -£50. Had the work carried out by HiQ anyway as already booked - a quarter of the costs quoted by Halfords. Maybe Halfords Autocentre Kettering was good once upon a time, I don't know. I was treated like an idiot either because I'm a woman or have a foreign accent or both. Stear clear!! Would give 0 stars on this review if I could!

This is the first and last time I’ll use Halford’s in Kettering for an MOT. I went to my appointment and found out that a signalling light wasn't working. They couldn’t fix it because it’s a special part, so I took the car to Kia Motors to have it replaced, which was fine. There's a rude, arrogant man at reception who was unhelpful when I returned for a quick MOT recheck, usually a 10-minute job. I didn’t have an appointment but was told to book one, which I understood. I booked an appointment for Saturday at 4 PM, cancelling other plans. I arrived at 3:45 PM for the recheck. The same rude man told me to leave the car there, that they would sort it out, and that he’d call when he was done. He never called back, and when I decided to return around 5 PM, I saw my car still parked where I left it. Inside, the man said they couldn’t do my car today because they were busy. His dismissive attitude was unacceptable, especially after I explained I needed the car for work and couldn't take more days off. He said he couldn't do it today and dismissed me. When I asked for a refund, he told me to do whatever I wanted. I've never been treated so rudely by anyone at the front. This motor centre deserves zero stars from me, and I won't be returning.

I’ve tried to give this Halfords Autocentre several chances over time, but the service has been consistently disappointing. Every visit seems to come with the same excuses: they’re “short-staffed” or had staff call in sick. which I initially understood, but it’s now become a pattern of every visit. Communication is especially poor. I often go an entire day without any updates on my car, and when I try to call for information, I’m left on hold for ages with no answer. On one occasion, they even closed for the day without ever updating me, meaning I had to wait until the next morning. The staff generally come across as dismissive and unbothered, showing little concern for the inconvenience caused by delays. The site itself feels outdated and too small for the amount of work they take on, which probably contributes to the chaos. I’ve also had repeated experiences where I’m called to collect my car just 10–15 minutes before closing, making it difficult to get there in time. Parts fitted often seem low-quality or old, and I’ve been advised to carry out extra (and expensive) work that, according to an independent mechanic, wasn’t actually needed. I’ve stayed with this branch purely for convenience, but after multiple let downs, it’s no longer worth it. I’ll be taking my car elsewhere and would recommend others do the same until major improvements are made to the staff and management structure and the building itself. Please listen to the bad reviews as this is the service you should expect, the one or two good reviews must have got off lucky.

I took my car in for a 12,000-mile / 1-year service, which included oil change, air filter, and cabin filter replacement. I was charged for everything. However, last week, I went to a local garage due to a loud AC blower noise. The technician showed me the cabin air filter, which was extremely dirty and clearly had not been replaced recently. He estimated it hadn’t been changed in over two years — even though I paid to have it replaced in August. That made me question whether other parts of the service — like the engine oil — were actually done. Also, I was told by the service center that my brake pads and discs needed replacing and even received reminders about it. But the local garage inspected them and said they’re in good condition and don’t need replacing at all. Now, my dashboard says I need another service in just 1,150 miles or 10 months, which doesn’t match the supposed full service done just two months ago. This experience has made me question the quality and transparency of the service. I hope the company takes this feedback seriously. If you want your car to be serviced good better not to go in this service centre.
