   A perfect hostelry in a delightful quiet village a few paces from the canal. This was the first pub on the Trent and has a fascinating name ! Tasty and great value baguettes. Real ales in beautiful condition( according to those of us who know) and friendly bar staff. Welcomes dogs too.

   Visited a few times whilst cruising up and down the Caldon canal - the pub is 10 mins walk from thr Engine lock just over the lift bridge. Brilliant local, great beer, friendly atmosphere, lovely landlady - thank you Margaret!
