   Had the Pensioners Xmas meal. Was a tad disappointed as remember reading a facebook comment that said the pub doesn't do small meals. Well the Turkey dinner was a small meal with one small roast potato and the pensioners menu states roasties in the plural. What I had was quite nice but the Xmas pud with brandy sauce was far too sweet Won't be returning for this deal

   Me and my mum came for the festive meal last night, it was amazing! Food was presented great, tasted amazing and we left absolutely stuffed. We loved every course we had. Thank you for a great night. The staff are so friendly aswell very welcoming.

   We used to go and eat at the black lion all the time as the food is reasonable priced and of a reasonable quality. I had a stomach operation so explained to the bar staff I could only eat small portion. I used to have a childs sunday dinner that was lovely and I could just about eat it. One day I went in and was told from now on Jakie said we could not have the childs portion going forward. We just do not go anymore and spend our money elsewhere. We now go to the Hungry horse and have their childs size sunday dinner instead. A funny way of running a business in my eyes.

   Would not recommend their food. I paid £20 for a mixed grill in and for that price the quality should have been much better. The grill had very little taste, the chips and onion rings were dry, the meat was tough and hard to chew, and the plate only came with half of a small mushroom. For £20, I expected a lot more.

   Good parking access. A few disabled spaces outside the door. Outside seating available. Dog friendly, but if you want to eat, you have to eat in the bar. We had 4 adults, a child and a dog, and ate together in the bar space. Staff are super friendly and chatty, and they were the best thing about the pub. There is a kids menu with average kids menu items. Main meals are super cheap! We paid about £8-10 per person which I can't remember paying so little in years at a pub! Food was decent, but nothing exceptional. Good pub grub. Puddings were fab as they were traditional pub fare with sponge and custard and ice cream sundaes. Tables were a little sticky and dirty, but we were in the bar so maybe the restaurant is better. Everyone enjoyed and left full. We came mid afternoon on the Saturday before father's day and we thought it would be busy, but it was really quite. Overall, we did enjoy the meal, and would probably eat here again as it was great value for money, there was something for all the family, and it was dog friendly, but it was average.

   Great pub. Good home cooked food. Fantastic choice and reasonably priced. Main meals and great choice of wraps, baguettes , toasted sandwiches, oatcakes and more.

   Great local pub that serves quality food and drink and features good live entertainment on some Saturdays. Friendly and helpful bar staff. Good for business meetings and functions with a good space in the adjacent room. The recent refurbishment has enhanced this great historic pub, with a fabulous beer garden, sheltered smoking area and children's play area. Good parking facilities too. Looks inviting and atmospheric at night with the lanterns on. Either passing through, having something to eat or in for the night I'm sure you will enjoy this place and want to come back.

   slightly dated but very clean, staff friendly. food was ok and edible, parking on site and the prices were very reasonable, also spotted a couple of craft ales.
