I use this store a great deal, for parcels and for odd bits of food. In a small store it manages to stock a wide range of items and maintains a 'local store' feel. The staff are always pleasant, especially Moira, who is a delight.

Had 2 interactions with 2 mature staff members yesterday and today. Unfortunately both unpleasant and unhelpful. Itβs very sad that in this day and age people canβt be civil to others who might not look like them. Need I say more!

I was totally humiliated at this store today when the "assistant Manager" refused to sell me alcohol because I had my 14 year old daughter with me who didn't have any ID with her! She obviously doesnt carry ID at her age. He said that he didn't like the way we were both staring for a long period of time into the drinks fridge. The reason I was starting for a while was - 1. I was tring to read the small print on what was on "offer" ans 2. I was looking to see what I wanted to but for MYSELF for the evening. My daughter was only looking at the same time as she was shopping with me. I asked him if he was questioning my ability to be a good parent as she was onyl 14 I would certainly wouldn't be giving her alcohol. He said that she didn't look 14 and that it was also down to what I was trying to buy - fruit Cider! To say I was mortified as there were other people waiting to be served is an understatement. He said I could speak with the Manager but she would say the same thing. The very same person has served me only a couple of weeks before whilst I was shopping with the same daughter and I bought 2 bottle of WKD which were on offer in the store (which I did mention to him). I appreciate that they can't be too careful with underage drinkers, but I am a responsible parent and the inconsistency of this is worrying. It goes without syaing that I will no longer be visiting this store and will, like today, go to Tesco and buy what I need in future. After only moving to this area recently I wonder if this is how other people will reat us when we are shpooing together.
