   Really disappointed with the vets care within the Crosshands branch whilst dropping my dog off for an operation on the 31st of July. I entered the building and was happily greeted by the lovely receptionist on shift, very friendly and welcoming. My dogs weight has decreased to 11.5 which we're very happy about since she's on the journey of weight loss. I was called in by the vet and stood by the examination table to take details and answer some questions. I was informed before the operation from my usual vets that she wouldn't be allowed water in the morning so at 6:40 when I got up I removed her water bowls, her appointment at the vets was at 9:00AM so i wasn't too concerned as the appointment was only a few hours later. The vet then proceeded to say because she hasn't had access to water they needed to put her on fluids as the operation may run into some issues, this would have cost an extra £150 which I unfortunately didn't have the funds to pay, I was then told she needed bloodwork done which would cost an extra amount of money ontop of what I was paying for the operation which I was told would be all included. I declined as I know she is healthy and well and had access to water throughout the night. The vet proceeded to comment on the weight of my dog but not in a friendly approachable manner, being met with. "She seriously needs to loose weight" I explained that she is on the journey and has already lost alot of weight and had been praised by my usual veterinary in my usual branch. I informed her that she is walked for 45 minutes per day (excluding when the weather is too warm) and is on a balanced diet, I was met with a displeased expression and the vet moving to just suddenly jerk my dog around to check her weight, lifting her hind legs off the ground without even attempting to introduce herself. (I explained she's normally fine with people but she needs to get use to them first.) My dog snapped at her twice and became clearly distressed to which I apologised for and was met with the comment. "We will muzzle her don't worry." Which isn't very reassuring to hear especially since she was going to be left in their care for the next few hours. After giving my details for contact I was told to keep my phone on volume which of course I would. Before I could respond I was met with the comment. 'If there is a sudden emergency or she passes, a phone call half an hour late isn't really going to help." I was more than distressed about my pet, having hearing her whine and whimper as I was leaving and paying for the operation. When I picked my dog up I was greeted by a different vet who provided absolutely phenomenal reassurance and care, talking about what I needed to do and how to ensure my pet recovers well. Ontop of this I do want to praise the incredible work done on the stitching of the wound, she has healed very well and the stitching is very clean. I have had no issues with Haven's vets before and have happily used the service since I rescued my dog almost six years ago but this experience is one I will never forget. I'm not saying to avoid this practice as there is clearly alot of passionate, hard working staff in all branches, I just want to share my experience for others to be warned.

   I took my dog to Haven Vets in Cross Hands. The reception area was beautifully designed and very spacious providing water for not only my pet but for the owners also. The vet, Jenny was incredible. Her professionalism, expertise and enthusiasm for animals shines through and made me feel confident from the onset that my dog was in very safe hands. Thank you.    We moved to Wales in November 2022. We couldn’t get our dogs into any of the local vets except one and several people hadn’t recommended them. We wanted Haven, but had to wait. It’s unfortunate when one of your animals gets sick, and even more unfortunate when the vets that you’d been using makes the situation worse. That was our experience with the other vet; just trying to get the vet to listen and then having to stand there for 45 minutes while we got a load of waffle; it was frustrating. We were finally able to change to Haven this month and I’m so grateful! They’re clean, friendly, empathetic, knowledgeable and most important, they listen! They make recommendations not on what they can make the most money on, but what’s actually best for your pet! I’m so glad we made the switch. We had to see them yesterday as our little dog has a stomach bug of some kind and they were so gently and kind and encouraging. My boy doesn’t mind going to the vets because of vets like this!

   I'm so grateful to Karen for being so great with my cat Leo; she was really thorough and knowledgeable and kept me informed throughout. I feel reassured that he's in safe hands. I'm new to this practice but I've been reaimpressed. The reception staff were really helpful and offered me a choice of appointments. All the staff I've met have been so friendly and professional.

   My self and my dog Lucy would just like to say a big thank you for the wonderful care you continue to give us. Lucy is an old girl at 14, but with such a caring team of vets and nurses Lucy is still like a button and enjoying life. They never fail to make us feel welcome and always help solve Lucy’s aches and pains. I couldn’t recommend them enough. Lovely modern and bright building with fantastic parking too.
