I would be wary of joining this gym. It’s quite busy a lot of the time (even during the day) and booking classes is near impossible unless you are on the app as precisely the time they are released. The cleanliness of the changing rooms can be hit or miss. Someone there clearly thinks it’s acceptable to shave off their hard skin and leave it on the changing room floor. Quite often there is hair in the showers, not a place you’d walk bare foot under any circumstance. The sauna is small and the steam room is either hot enough to boil you or broken. If you want to use either at busy times, good luck. They keep changing the gym layout after buying new equipment and it’s not currently conducive to anyone that wants to conduct barbell lifts. The two positives I’ve found is that I don’t often see people filming and the staff are really nice. The big killer for me was the 22% price increase because of the new equipment. It wasn’t like they asked members to vote on what they wanted - the new equipment isn’t relevant to me and it seems a bit unfair to hike the prices as soon as the year was up. The biggest disappointment was a “so sorry to see you go, we’d love feedback” I had provided feedback and was ignored. But when the gym is always busy, I guess they aren’t that fussed. I get supply and demand - if you’re thinking of joining, I’d get some guest passes and try it out. Edit re reply - I have already contacted the management twice and been ignored. I’m not going to bother a third time, you have my feedback. Interestingly according to another review, different people had different percentage price hikes in membership. That seems pretty sneaky….

They put my membership up from £42 to £49 - that an increase of 16.7%. I think we can all agree thats an absolute piss take so I do not recommend this gym.

Best gym in my opinion. I was a member a few years back, had to leave due to work sending me overseas and there was no issue at all in cancelling my membership. The staff are super friendly and helpful, so when I came back this was the only gym for me. They have a good amount of equipment so even when it's busy you can still workout, changing rooms are nice, plenty of lockers, plenty of showers which are hot with good pressure, and you have the pool area with a nice steam room and sauna. Highly recommend.

Had membership for 20 plus years & seen many changes. One thing remains constant friendly staff always willing to help and guide. Gym team are always available to seek support & guidance from. In recent years the club has become more engaged in supporting the local community. A very nice place to work-out.

I often come here as a guest when up in Northants visiting my relatives for a few days at a time throughout the year. For me it's gym is very good that stil uses the so called slightly "dated" (by some) Life Fitness equipment, of which is far better suited to me than the latest hi-tech equipment re the "Technogym" brand that is used in most Nuffields nowadays....and is still far superior than it's modern day 'Technogym' replacement IMO. However like with a fair few small 20m swimming pool-only Nuffield set ups up and down the country Iuse, then it tends to be open to swimming lessons and such like a plenty - which is all well and good if it's a more spacious 25m pool but not one of the smallest possible variety to host all and sundry on top of public swimming! Sadly this therefore gives it a 2/5 rating instead of 4/5 for me. Had the pool situation been like my main Nuffield (Barbican Approach) gym in Plymouth (one that doesn't allow children in it's pool for anything, due to it's limited 20m length/size - and which only has swimming lessons on at mostly 'off peak' times for an hour or so on average throughout the week days), then it would've been 4/5.

Small gym, facilities and equipment often broken and take long time to repair sauna etc. Just looks run down and tired not worth the £55 a month fee especially with so many better equipped gyms near by charging £15 for the month. Half the lockers do not work so spend 15 minutes getting one to work. Also when you leave they send you debt letters and make you pay an extra fee to leave. Pretty poor all round really avoid.

I joined up to this gym not long ago as it's close to where I live and I'm fixed in for a year. I really wish I hadn't. I thought I'd be ok with the Nuffield brand, but it's quite disappointing. Both the gym and the pool are quite small, and whilst the staff are civil, they don't go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The whole place is very outdated which makes it feel a little grimy. Also, the gym is supposed to be open until 10pm but half an hour before closing they come round and start switching all the treadmills and equipment off, and it feels like you can't ask them to leave certain things on so that you can finish your workout. Just say the gym closes at 930, otherwise it feels like false advertising. I'm locked in for a year now, but once that's up I'll be going elsewhere, most likely back to my old gym, which is further away but much more user friendly. Very expensive for what it is.
