I want to highlight quite a few negative points from my 1st wedding anniversary weekend stay at Dilham Hall Retreats (“luxury glamping”). We stayed in the Kingfisher Pod on the Tonnage Bridge site and what it looked like was one of the older versions (there were 5 new pods and 5 older pods) the first thing we noticed was the poor upkeep on treating the wood on the pod/hot tub and decking - green and slimy. (Photo provided below) Secondly, after travelling and noticing we had no signal, we wanted to connect to the Wi-Fi and watch the smart TV which also needed Wi-Fi connection - to find out the Wi-Fi didn’t connect to any device we had, so we were unable to use our phones or watch TV (which is great if you’re not planning on using technology, but if you are wanting to use your tech, you’ll be disappointed, especially as it states on the website/booking.com that ‘Wi-Fi is available in all areas and is free of charge.’). (Photo provided below). Now we come onto the hot tub, which is meant to be the highlight of your luxurious stay, right?! No, as I stated above, the wood hadn’t been treated so it was all green and slimy, paint had come away,it was dirty (my husband had to clean it all, flush it out as the heat exchanger pipe was blocked with muck which would of made it dirty and taken longer to heat up.) We were unable to fit our wine glasses in the wine glass holder on the hot tub as it’s advertised on the websites/booking.coms pictures (photo provided). We were provided with 1 bag of wood which was only enough for the first evening, we had to contact the owner to request more wood (kindly he gave this to us free of charge as they are usually £6 a bag, which seems unfair after spending so much on our stay). We struggled opening and shutting the hot tubs fire door when lighting and adding wood, it got very hot and the latch didn’t catch properly - this made it extremely difficult when it was raining/windy. When we booked, we received a booking confirmation email a week before with a ‘how to hot tub manual’ in this manual it states that you should use the taps on the hot tub to fill it up - there were no taps on the hot tub , but we managed to find a hose around the back of the pod which we assumed we could use, we had to attach the hose to taps at the back of the pod which filled up the hot tub with hot water , the hose had a hole in (picture provided) and we were unable to adjust the temperature easily as the manual stated we should do to get the correct temperature but because as there were no taps on the hot tub we would of had to keep getting in and out of the hot tub to walk around the back to put the pipe onto the cold tap. The manual also stated that we needed to have the hot tub at a temperature of 35•c - 40•c but the thermometer that was provided was broken, cracked and filled with water so we had to guess. (Photo provided) Next, on the 1st night of our stay we heard a scratching noise on floor but didn’t think anything of it until the next morning after going for a walk we noticed an obvious pest hole at the front of the pod leading to under the decking, I put some food at the opening of the hole to see if there was anything underneath to find out the food had been eaten (before and after photos attached) - later that night we heard scratching noises under our bed and around the kitchen - I couldn’t believe it, this is definitely something that should be kept on top of for hygiene reason, we felt on edge all night worrying we would find a furry friend next to us in the morning. Our door on the property didn’t shut properly had dropped and it kept catching - we had to lift and pull to close it (photo provided) I attempted to contact Owner of the retreat about these issues on Friday night but his mobile phone was turned off so I was unable to get through - I am not impressed by this £329 stay (which was discounted for off peak season, I dread to think how much it would cost in peak season). If we didn’t pay upfront, I wouldn’t have paid the full price - disappointed customer.

Absolutely one of the best experiences me and my partner have ever had. I’m a stay at home mum and my partner works away a lot , so we really wanted to find a luxurious and private place to enjoy a weekend away child free. We have been together 4 years and have never done anything like this. We opted for Dilham Hall Retreats , and I’m glad we did! The pod we had was amazing with a luxurious bed hand made by there handy man! And the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on from a locally sourced family run business! ( I found this out by messaging the owner as I needed to find out where this bed was from so I could buy one , that’s how amazing it is) nothing better when a company uses local family run businesses! The kitchen was also an amazing feature , with lots of room and worktop spaces. The bathroom was a great size with a light up mirror which was perfect to do my skin care in and lots of storage too! The separate bedroom is a nice addition if you have friends or children who stay with you too. To top it off I would say one of the top 3 features would be the view and the hot tub! Hearing the wildlife whilst relaxing in a hot tub was the thing that really did it for me , overall I couldn’t fault my experience one bit and will definitely be returning.

We are a family of three and had a fantastic stay in a pod for three nights. The pod was beautifully appointed and was such a lovely space to spend time in. The setting of the pod was idyllic - so peaceful and cleverly done that it was hard to believe that we also had all mod cons. We also enjoyed a morning of canoeing on the stunning canal that our pod overlooked. We can't recommend highly enough!

The cabin was a lovely room but unfortunately not very clean. There are no lights outside so once it gets dark you can’t see a meter in front of you. I emailed them and heard nothing back for over a week i was extremely disappointed with my experience.

Absolutely amazing, everything you need is in the cabin, just turn up with your food and drink. Loved it, the only thing I didn't like was the 4pm check in, that's nearly a day wasted, and you have to be gone by 10am when you leave, perhaps a bit of leeway on them times would be good, but apart from that, brilliant.

We absolutely loved our four night stay in Coot pod over October ‘22 half term as a family of 4 (two adults and two kids who are 9 & 6). We arrived on Saturday and check-in was so easy with useful instructions. The pod was sparkling clean and everything was well thought out inside. The beds were super comfy with crisp linens and plenty of pillows and cushions. It’s really handy having a little fridge (with a small freezer section for ice), microwave, two ring hob, toaster and kettle. The pod even had a small but effective wall heater which kept it toasty. The rainforest style shower was lovely and there was plenty of hot water. Each pod has plenty of space around it and feels private and so quiet. Our pod didn’t come with a hot tub but we were able to use one for a day and a morning that hadn’t been booked, which cost an extra £30 and this was ace, we all absolutely loved it. We all slept really well every night and it was so nice opening the doors in the morning and watching the cows, swans, geese and birds from bed with a cup of tea. We took hot water bottles which were also nice to have. The fire pit was a decent size and worked so well for evenings sitting out and watching the night sky. The communication with the reservations team was great throughout. We had an incredible meal at the nearby Gunton Arms where we were lucky to get a table after being on the waiting list for a cancellation - couldn’t recommend it more highly. We had great days out at Cromer, Sheringham and seeing the seals on Waxham Beach. Having Waitrose nearby for treat holiday bits was really nice. Fully recommend Mary Janes for fish and chips in Cromer. Can’t wait to come back and stay again - it’s the ideal place to come with friends where you can have all the best benefits of camping but also the warmth and creature comforts on hand too. Thanks for being such a lovely, beautiful and calm holiday spot for our first time visiting Norfolk!

Amazing place to go for a little break in the country. We sat in the hot tub at 11:30pm looking up at the stars all nice and warm. If there for a few days you will need extra wood which is supplied at £5 a bag. Lovely place to stay

Wow, what an amazing stay we had!!! My husband and I stayed for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Not a bad word to say about our stay. Beautiful and quiet setting. The pod was modern, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the hot tub and enjoyed sitting on the decking in evenings. Definitely recommending this place to all our family and friends and will be returning in the future.

Beautiful little pod. Great quality with every space well thought out. I was impressed with the storage. Great space infront. Hot tub was an extra special treat. Canoe hide minutes away was great. It was just a really magical literal experience and we are already looking to return.
