   I cannot speak too highly of SpaMedica in Bedford from the moment I walked through the door for my assessment until I was discharged two weeks later after my cataract surgery, I was treated with care by lovely staff, nurses and surgeons everyone was friendly, cheerful and helpful ❤️

   I had my cataract surgery on Weds 6th August 2025. From the moment I stepped in to Spa Medica Bedford I felt welcomed and greeted by all staff members in whatever capacity they were. The surgeon was a lovely man and explained what was going to happen. I never felt a thing during the surgery and it was a lot quicker than I thought it was going to be. I guess I will have to have my other eye treated, I won’t be in the least bit nervous.

   Had my 2nd cataract op here. My first was at Bedford South Wing, about a year ago. My memory of my first experience at Bedford South Wing was very good, with no pain during or after the op. Here my experience was different. Long wait (2 1/2 hrs) in waiting room. Turned out my file had been deposited in the “wrong room”. Eventually got to operating room. I experienced quite severe pain during the op. And more pain afterwards. Only now, 6 hours later, is the pain subsiding with paracetamol. If my first experience had been like this, I would have declined the second. South wing may have a longer wait, but imo it’s worth it!

   Amazing NHS facility…very clean and efficient. My dad had his cataract procedure on 9/6 and was very happy from start to finish…currently awaiting for an appnt at the local opticians to check everything and then on to the next eye!!

   Excellent clean building and very caring staff. Now 5 days after surgery and would like to say a very big thankyou to my surgeon and her staff for their very professional care and that despite my severe deafness how all the team done their best to try and make sure I heard which isnt easy for any of us. Also a big thankyou to my pre op consultant who was really helpful explaining and answeri ng my many questions. I would recommend spamedica to anyone thinking of having cataract surgery and now wait for a datefor my other eye. Thank you Jennie Baxter

   Absolutely brilliant, very quick after referral from my optician, left the peticions at 11.30, SpaMedica rang me by 15.00, a seven day wait for assessment, a further two week wait and first cataract surgery, second done eight weeks after. Brilliant service by all the staff and surgery team.
