We stayed at The Bedford Swan last weekend to celebrate my aunt’s 80th birthday. While much of the weekend was enjoyable and several staff members were welcoming, one interaction seriously detracted from the experience. A staff member named Alexandra, who identified herself as Head of the Tea Room and implied she was the most senior person on duty, behaved in a rude and discourteous manner. We were seated in an area near the kitchen that is clearly accessible to guests and allows ample space for staff to pass. Despite this, she made inappropriate remarks about my one-year-old niece and my father, who is in his 70s, as they were carefully navigating the stairs. She then reprimanded us for sitting in an area the hotel itself makes available to guests. There was no obstruction and no reasonable justification for speaking to guests in this way. Her tone was dismissive and unnecessary, and it left us feeling unwelcome during what should have been a special family celebration. It demonstrates a lack of staff training and manner. This incident unfortunately affected their overall perception of the hotel. A trip marred by a a staff member's superiority complex.. Disappointing experience that falls well below the level of service expected.

Gorgeous interior. Very Festive inside which is nice running up to Christmas. Front desk staff were very friendly. Room was immaculate and had everything required for our stay. Nipped into the bar before leaving for a wedding. Good choice of drinks. Little confusion from the staff, directed us to a vacant table and asked us to move 10 minutes later because it was reserved. Very slight inconvenience all in all but could irk some other visitors. Also, Breakfast is well worth the money in my opinion. Also prepared vegetarian sausages when required

    1. It was a shame no one mentioned that you don’t do food after 5-00 pm on a Sunday. 2. The mirrors in the bathroom are two high. 3. It would be good to have a tv bracket that would enable you to see the TV from the bedroom. I think someone should have told us the fire alarm go’s off on a Monday morning twice. 4. The bedrooms were amazing 5. The hotel is beautiful. 6. The lady that checked us out on Monday was fantastic. 7. We will definitely stay again as we visit friends and family in Bedford on a regular basis

we had a wonderful stay at the swan hotel. The room was spacious and had everything I needed, with décor that was modern and really beautifully done. The thermal spa session was incredibly relaxing and definitely a highlight of our visit. The restaurant offered a great choice of food, and everything was excellent value for money. Overall, a fantastic experience, we will definitely be coming back.

We had a truly wonderful afternoon tea experience at The Swan! From start to finish, the atmosphere was charming and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious everything beautifully presented and full of flavour. A special mention must go to Alexandra and her team, who were incredible. It was a very busy Saturday, and although it was clear the team were stretched and could have done with a few more hands to help them reach their full potential, they handled it all with such professionalism, warmth, and grace. Nothing was too much trouble, and every guest was made to feel cared for. Despite the pressure, Alexandra led her team brilliantly calm, attentive, and always with a smile. It’s rare to see such genuine hospitality these days, and it really made our experience stand out. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend The Swan’s afternoon tea it’s a real treat!

We went to the thermal spa and for afternoon tea. Really enjoyed the spa staff were very friendly and welcoming, helpful and efficient. Facilities are very good, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a relaxing two hours prior to going for afternoon tea. The setting is lovely, well appointed and comfortable. Staff checked our booked preferences, and another member also checked our preferences. My daughter had ordered me a special tea due to my dietary requirements. She ordered herself a dairy free tea. The teas were served - very nicely presented, and a good selection. The problem was that my daughter received a vegan tea which is not what she ordered. She is intolerant of dairy not a vegan and felt a little short changed as no meat, eggs or fish. What she had she said was nice but she was a little disappointed. She wouldn't complain because she didn't want to draw attention to herself due to her anxiety. Overall a good experience. Staff need to check specifically as dairy free is not vegan.

One of the nicest hotels I have been at for some time . Mick on reception was ultra professional and the spa receptionist Danielle was very helpful they are two great assets to the company. food was good ,the spa is for residents only which I always prefer ... the Spa however was incredible and the warm welcome from the gals there was great .well worth the money .. Last but not least dog friendly which is a bonus... would 100% recommend this place

Wonderful experience, parking spaces limited, so arrive early. Rooms furnished well and everything you would expect to find ( tea/coffee, safe, and ironing board all located in wardrobe). Friendly staff, easy check-in and out. Next visit will use the spa which requires you to pre-book a slot. Prices start at £15. Breakfast Inc is buffet style. Would definitely visit again.

Hotel nice on entry at reception , staff polite and professional. Had room 136 on entry looked nice, well decorated and clean. (Apart from odd lamps cosmetic failure). Good hospitality tray and fridge a bonus. Bed was comfortable. Faults: The phone made the room to light at night to sleep. Soundproofing is dreadful. Woken at 4.30 by banging and creaky floorboards from room above went on until 05.55 until door slammed and they left. Room too close to the stairs with no door to silence the noise. Leaving having had minimal sleep is disappointing. Couldn't have a bath as the water is not warm enough had a shower water a little warmer but shower head doesn't stay up so wasn't easy. All in all it was a shame it was a poor stay and it may just be that this room is not good.

Lovely hotel, super friendly staff. The room was small but was beautifully decorated and cosy, with air conditioning available. Bathroom was good, nice double walk in shower. Ordered room service which took a considerable amount of time to arrive (2hrs!) But food was decent and hot - just order before you get hungry!! Bar and restaurant were lovely, as we're the seating areas, complete with comfy sofas and lots of artwork on the walls. I would definitely stop here again.
