We recently visited The Kingfisher in Bedford for the Jetty Sunday Lunch Après, and we personally found everything to be absolutely delicious. There was plenty of food, the gravy and roast potatoes were especially tasty, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. The setting itself is very atmospheric — a really lovely place to spend a Sunday. I imagine that on a day with very strong winds or driving rain it might feel a little less comfortable given the exposed nature of the area, but for us it was a really lovely and genuinely memorable experience. We’d happily return.

Apres at the jetty review only I attended with a group of friends for ‘apres at the jetty’ and had such a lovely time but unfortunately I’ve had to review it at a 3/5 mainly for the price. It is £30 per person and you get hardly any food. You are able to choose from a selection of meats and then 2 sides. To share between 2 we got 6 slices of sausage, 2 bits of prosciutto, 6 cubes of steak, 6 slices of pepperoni, 2 portions of fries… for £60!!!!! (And the cheese of course) Yes your drink is included but there is no way it’s worth anywhere near £30. I’d say even with the drink included it should be more than £20. I think they have set the price so high to cover overheads for the fires, the fondue ceramics and stands, heaters etc etc but I would return again for this price. Again we had a lovely time the price is just way too high!

On a corporate level we work with The Kingfisher regularly in terms of booking meetings, corporate events and bedrooms. I can not rate Chris and the events/reservations team highly enough. They provide exceptional levels of service, never let us down and always go out of their way to exceed our expectations and ensure we return. Liaising with them is always seamless and effortless - nothing is too much trouble for them. If you're looking for an event location in Bedford please do consider The Kingfisher - their location on the river is especially lovely in the summer. Chef is great too - the food has always been very good - even when catering for large numbers. Just the bedrooms that are starting to look a little tired and in need of a bit of investment - but are more than perfectly acceptable and are always immaculately clean with high quality bedding and linen. However, this does not stop me recommending The Kingfisher enough!

Came here as a large family group for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. Lunch was absolutely lovely. 10/10 Everyone commented on how nice the food was. The restaurant/hotel/venue spaces are attractive, well looked after and set in very pretty grounds overlooking the river. Staff are friendly and cheerful. We had a really good experience.

Visited the pub for a meal for a family birthday. There was a wedding on at the time so bad became busy at times but did not disturb us. I had my assistance dog with me, and there is a dog menu which he had a couple of treats from a really enjoyed. One thing I had to raise was that there are no outside bins which is not good as a dog friendly pub - i had nowhere to put a poo bag! The person I spoke to agreed it was strange as said they would raise. Food was really lovely. Service good, staff friendly. Would recommend.

I had dinner for the 2nd time here last night and took my husband and teenage son to celebrate my husband birthday. The food was absolutely amazing again and my husband & son felt the same. Kay, our waitress was fantastic, helpful, polite and welcoming. I asked if Kay would arrange a little surprise dessert for my husband which she did which was so special, so thank you Kay. Hats off to the chef, your food is top quality, tasty wholesome and presentation was 100%. Staff polite as always. Thank you Kingfisher for a lovely evening we will be back.

Didn't stay over but visited for a party. Great small function room, staff were helpful. Good food served for the party and the restaurant looked very busy. Decent bar service. Plenty of parking outside. Friends have visited the restaurant and reports are good, will be back to try it!.

We didn’t stay over as local to the Kingfisher, but attended the New Year’s Eve Gala dinner. It was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The room was beautiful. We were welcomed with canapés and champagne on arrival by Kay who looked after everybody so well throughout the evening. The 5 course meal was faultless and of a very high standard and we danced the night away to a great disco playing a great variety of songs including lots of old favourites. Our party of 4 are very much looking forward to booking again for next New Year’s Eve. Thank you Kay and your wonderful team once again. Happy New Year to you all.

Where to begin...... The venue, Picturesque, warm yet modern, great view of the river Staff These guys are awesome. Very attentive, friendly and polite.these guys work tirelessly to ensure you have a great experience Food. The food here is outstanding. We had the antipasti to start, which was presented beautifully and tasted fresh. Just the right amount for a sharer. I had the steak for main, and when I say this steak was cooked to perfection I am not doing it justice. Locally sourced beef and it was evident. Compliments to the chef on this. The better half had the chicken burger and this not only looked good, but tasted better. The chicken was perfectly cooked. She also had a bakewell tart for desert, again this was absolutely top drawer. The staff there should be proud of themselves. We shall 100%be making this a regular haunt.
