Had a lovely meal here for New Year’s Eve. The nicest roast dinner I’ve ever eaten out. Staff were very friendly with my little boy. Could tell straight away it’s under new management. The manager was very welcoming and friendly. Will be back very shortly with friends. Price was very good too. Highly recommend.

Most underwhelming dining experience. Not been for a few years and it has certainly gone downhill. Burger was one you might expect from and burger van, the fish pie was 90% potato and all the other meals very average. Won’t be returning, shame.

Nightmare at Christmas! Our Christmas day was ruined by the most awful experience at this restaurant. Having booked months ahead for our family to have Christmas Lunch here we arrived looking forward to what should have been a magical day. From the moment we arrived things went wrong. There was a queue to be seated but the front of house manager avoided eye contact with everyone and failed to acknowledge anyone. Once eventually seated it took an hour for our drinks and starters to arrive. They were a mixture of over or underdone. We asked for water for the table but were told there was only 2 water glasses left which was all we could have. Just over an hour later two burnt roast dinners were delivered before minutes later being whisked away as they had apparently been delivered to the wrong table. Much more waiting, much grumbling from many surrounding tables, several groups walked out and we kept trying to get updates with very little success. Eventually our meals where delivered missing most of the side dishes and with pink turkey. At that point we gave up and like many others walked out. This was the absolute worst customer service experience we have ever encountered and it ruined our Christmas.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was our 6th visit to The Knife & Cleaver, and I thought it was about time I left a proper review. My partner and I always come here for a little getaway, and every time we’re reminded why we keep coming back. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes such a difference. The room we stayed in was lovely, comfortable, and just what we needed for a relaxing break. For dinner, I had a three-course meal cooked by Gary, and the fish and chips were absolutely spot on. Gary even came out to say hello, which was such a nice personal touch. Manager Sue also made us feel very welcome, adding to the warm atmosphere. After our meal, we headed to the bar where Acer mixed up some cracking cocktails for my partner. Between the great drinks, the friendly service, and the easy banter at the bar, it really felt like being among friends. What stands out most is how well the whole team works together—it’s rare to see a place where everyone gels so naturally, and it makes the experience that much better. We’ll definitely be back again in the future. If you’re planning a spa day at Woburn, I’d highly recommend finishing it off with a stay here. Thanks again to the whole team—you’re a crazy, brilliant bunch, and we’ll see you soon!

Just had the most delicious meal tonight at this lovely pub. My family and I were so warmly welcomed by Sue our lovely server. We were brought our drinks by an equally lovely and friendly barman. The food was utterly fantastic, really tasty and served on lovely hot plates. Nothing was too much trouble even when we asked for more of the incredible gravy. We thoroughly enjoyed the belly pork and the chicken and leek pie (thanks chef!) and we would definitely come again! Super friendly team and fantastic food! Highly recommend.

We arrived earlier than our booking and where seated with no issues. There was a warm roaring fire that was inviting. We were disappointed that there were a few choices missing from the menu but cannot be helped, it was very busy as there was a party going on but the waitress we had looked after us well. The food was lovely and we plan on a 2nd visit soon.

My 5 year old granddaughter and I had a most enjoyable visit to this charming pub/restaurant today for a special after school treat. We both had the fish and chips which was a good choice (my granddaughter had the child’s portion). The restaurant was bright and welcoming with just the right amount of Christmas decoration. My granddaughter said it looked beautiful. We loved the real fire and all the staff made us very welcome indeed. We will definitely be back.

We were attending my cousins wedding here, and can honestly say everything was great. The staff went out of their way to help my son with his dietary needs and were just all very helpful and polite. Super service and atmosphere. Great venue. xx

Previously visited for drinks in 2018 but we opted to stay at The Knife and Cleaver for two nights whilst attending an exhibition in September 2022 with work. 3 of us visited and were all very impressed throughout our stay. We had great service from Amy in the bar all of her food recommendations were brilliant and the art in our Guinness was worth the visit alone. The menu in the restaurant for evening meals is vast and great value. Highly recommend the Chorizo Croquettes and the burger. Great choice for Breakfast too. The rooms we stayed in were brilliant, nice and clean, large and comfortable beds and a good selection of hot drinks, exactly what we needed after long days at an exhibition. We'll definitely be booking again.
