A full 5 star review in every sense of the word. Having just returned from a Xmas stay at this wonderful hotel we have not got a bad word to say about it. A special mention for Gail on Reception. What an organiser, nothing too much trouble. She sorted out pressies for our doggies and also navigated the various Xmas menus for us. As for the hotel itself cleanliness was second to none and the restaurant service and food was brilliant. How hard the Staff work - they must be worn out. To sum up a wonderfully relaxing festive break. We will return

First time we have stayed away from home at Christmas and couldn't have picked a better place. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and in particular Christmas day lunch was excellent both in presentation, service and quality. The evening buffet was just so good, and again presentation and food were faultless. Staff were really pleasant and attentive. The room we had was very nice and we enjoyed the treats!. Have booked to return for Christmas 2026.

Fantastic night in this lovely hotel. Yummy dinner and wine worth the money. Gorgeous breakfast. Room was cosy and clean and comfortable. Our waitress both meals was Kerrie. She was friendly, helpful and fun. All the staff were lovely. Great night. We will be back.

There's plenty to say about my experience, we came here for an afternoon tea event and stayed over night. The christmas afternoon tea was lovely, there was a live Singer with a stunning voice and she stayed singing the entire time. A varied selection of delicious and moist mini cakes, scones with jam and clotted cream and sandwiches. Along with practically never ending tea. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, the decoration In the tea room was aesthetic and service was brilliant. Staff was polite and quick for being so busy. Check in to the hotel was quick and simple, the hotel itself was also pleasant decorated. Beds comfy, shower pressure was amazing, warm lights, luxurious toiletries, the nescafe machine was a nice touch along with the classical radio. One small issue was a small patch of mold I'm the bathroom

Popped in for an impromptu meal and drinks, building is tastefully decorated adding to its charm. Open fire adds a lovely homeliness to the experience. Food was tasty and well priced, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. Special praise to Kerrie ( I think it was “ie” ) who looked after us and nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful way to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas build up. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to escape and made to feel special. Cannot rate the rooms as did not stay, however if the rooms continue the overall appearance of the hotel then I would expect them to be faultless.

Always a pleasure to stay here. If you're looking for excellent service, you're in the right place! Whilst the building is old and very quaint with a hint of quirky, it still has the ability to accommodate accessibility issues, so please don't be discouraged by the age of the building if need accessible accommodation; you will be well looked after.

My partner and i had, had a rather bad day and needed a hotel with our dog for the night. I am so pleased we found The Talbot and Gail. Plans changed throughout the day and all were accepted by Gail and plans made to help us. Bare in mind this was New Years Eve! Gail has exceptional customer service skills and has a genuine nature of helpfulness she is more than an assett to the Hotel. Gail understood our "bad day" and made plans for us to have an evening meal when we did arrive, even though it was a set meal event as it was NYE! When we were concerned we had not got evening wear with us, she accommodated us and our dog in a quiet area of the restaurant so we did not feel out of place as we were concerned. We thank Kelly the GM of the restaurant for assisting also and checking we were ok during our meal. I feel Gail 'felt' our misfortune with us and arranged a welcome gift in our room-it is these added extras that made us feel so welcome that made our stay beyond our expectations for such a short notice booking. We stayed an extra night due to Gail, and the other staff's care and consideration. We ate 2 evening meals and 2 breakfasts and they were all exceptional-hats off to the chef who we believe was short staffed-the food was beautiful! The location is quaint, full of history and so so peaceful we felt very safe and comfortable. The assistance of the personnel in this hotel made our misfortune all the better for being there! We can not express how grateful we are and no words will thank Gail enough for the extra,s and warm hugs! Even the other residents were warm and friendly-we have had such a positive experience and we are very grateful x Thank you!

I just love this hotel chain. This is the fifth hotel of theirs I've stayed in and I just knew The Talbot would be as fabulous as the others! I was there last night for my 50th birthday and they upgraded my husband and i to their suite. Gorgeous. Thank you for a great birthday. xxx

We had a last min date night spent here. And we are so glad we did, everything was just perfect. Upon entering the room there was calming opera music playing which was a nice touch. Room was spacious and well laid out. With coffee machine, bottle of water each as well as biscuit, choc bar etc. Lovely en-suite with bath and shower over. For a building built in 1600s it's been tastefully modernised throughout. We ended up having dinner there. Perfectly cooked, we had 3 courses and a bottle of wine. Prices were expected no major shocks. Service was on point. Waitresses worked fast and hard to make sure no-one waited long for anything. Oundle is a beautiful place in the evening and this hotel really boosts that as you'll see from the few pics I took. I can't recommend this hotel enough. We will 100% be back again soon.

It was my birthday trip and at Talbot hotel we stay two nights. I asked before very nice room for my birthday and I got directly that room that I was imagined. Every day we got clean room, clean towels and coffee milks and water. Breakfast was very fresh and delicious. At first evening at dinner we tried steak. For steak I will give 4 stars from 5. Steak was with bone and one side of the steak was perfectly tender but biggest side unfortunately no. But this is place where I would like to return.
