A beautiful, spectacular woodland, we thoroughly enjoyed our walk around here. The temptation is to keep walking, but it's so worth while stopping and spending time looking at the nature in front of you, listening out for all the birds, seeing if you can glimpse them.

On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon Coombes valley is a beautiful place to relax. Woodland trails take you up and down the valley, there are plenty of benches to rest as you explore and discover wooden castles, nature musical instruments, bridges across a gentle river. The visitor centre has toilets which open until late. Parking is £4 which can be paid in the visitor centre, when open, by phone or in the honesty box. Watch out for the cockerel, he's aggressive. We didn't see him. For us, one of the bridges was closed on our return leg so we were sent on a diversion that took us up a hillside and then back down taking us a long way out of our way and then back the way we came. The signage was not very good but hopefully this won't be the case when you go! We will go back as there's a lot more exploring to do. Well worth a visit.

Great place for a walk in nature, beautiful and peaceful, plenty of benches to rest on along the way and an excellent kids trail. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Lovely woodland reserve. Peaceful and perfect to hide from the Sun on a hot day. Ice creams and cold drinks available. Picnic area and lots of benches scattered through the reserve. Areas for children to play and explore too. Lovely lady welcomed us and gave us all the information we needed. Smallish car park which I imagine may be full at weekends and NO parking on the small country lane leading up to it. Will definitely visit again at more appropriate times of the year for birdwatching. Saw dragonflies, butterflies and a little frog. Heard birds such as Chiffchaff, Goldfinch,Wren,Robin,Willow Warbler,Redstart. Buzzard soaring over too.

I love this place it's one of my favourite places to be. In the week it's quiet and often on a Sunday it's not too bad either. You can easily remove yourself from any people just follow the woodcock trail all the way. It's very strenuous in places and you need a good level of fitness for some parts but it can be as easy as you like taking different trails. Yes that's a red kite the first one seen over this way, I've not seen one since though.

I think that this rspb reserve is my favourite so far. When I've visited it's been very quiet and peaceful with not many other people. The tree viewing points are really fun with the net bridges and offer a great view. Last time I visited I saw what I could only assume to be two buzzards flying quickly one after the other very close to my partner and I under the trees, which was a marvelous treat!
