Nice little venue, I guess it'd be called intimate by some. Probably a little small for the band I saw, but at least the sound was clear. Staff were pleasant and the whole show went off without a hitch.
Great small venue with a monster sound. Great atmosphere and reasonable prices for tickets and at the bar.
Great venue....Great beer and not a long wait to get it. Not overly big and when packed, creates a memorable atmosphere. I will definitely be back. Only downside is the parking which is located opposite, lots of space but not enough payment machines, had an almost hour with to pay
Such an amazing venue with vast array of different styles of music from r&b to drum n bass or indie to punk rock it even hosts bingo loco nights. The venue can host across 2 floors with a roof top smoking area It has 2 main bars and a tip bar (all used in accordance to size of event a number of tickets sold ) the staff there are fantastic always warm and welcoming. Its simply a great place to go to enjoy a night of music and laughter or a pleasure to work at.
Took the train from London to see Confidence Man at this great venue. Friendly security and bar staff.There's a cloakroom - just ask a member of bar staff and they charge £2 a coat in a locked room. Reasonable drink prices. With an 800 capacity I managed to be at the front just 4ft away from the stage.Much better than any big corporate arena as you're so close to the band,especially when Confidence Man are all about the energy,dance and interacting with the audience. For the first time I got sprayed with champagne as Sugar Bones does at every gig ..lol The security staff inside the club were friendly and approachable. Easy access to the toilets and bar. If the journey there and back wasn't so long - I spent more time on that than seeing the 2 bands( support one were good too) - I'd go more regularly as they put on a big variety of different genres. The sort of local venue thats died out all over the country - lucky Northampton to have a thriving local music venue. Also a great crowd - friendly and of all ages and up for a good time.Very enthusiastic joining on with singing and dancing.
A neat venue opposite a multi story carpark. I've been too many gigs here and have no complaints about the sound. There is a generous sized stage & the Roadmender attracts some decent acts. Don't ask about drink prices. I don't even bother anymore due to the ridiculous prices charged by most music properties. Well worth a visit.
First visit to the roadmender. Parking is in the mayorhold multi story opposite. Drinks were reasonably priced . This a great independent music venue. We were there to see the blow monkeys (who were excellent) . The sound and venue are great , a proper old fashioned music venue . Recommended
Great live music venue with good sound quality, friendly bar & security staff.
I don't live near Northampton so this was only my second visit. Went there for the Sweet on a Friday night (less I know, my musical tastes haven't evolved since I was about 12) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There's a large (and cheap) multi storey right next door so at least getting there by car is easy. Evidently the main room holds up to 850 standing, which was a surprise to me as it looks a bit smaller. On the night I'd say it was about 80% full which is perfect from a punter's point of view. I imagine it would feel a bit claustrophobic when completely full but that's no different to many venues. I managed to get a position a few rows back from the stage and from where I was standing, I couldn't fault the view or the sound. There's a well stocked bar in the lobby area. As usual it's plastic glasses only, the floppy type that make it difficult not to spill your drink, but the prices weren't terrible for a music venue. I'd say about 30% above pub prices. All the staff I encountered were friendly and polite. It's a decent, no frills, medium sized venue. Every town should have one Fair play to them for managing to keep it going for so long.
