Lovely pub and staff but food is over priced for what it is and the hotel rooms are not very sound proof. other guests pacing and rearranging furniture above with Very creaky floor boards and loud squeaky doors make it near impossible to get a good nights sleep.

This was our second visit here. Certainly disappointed with the service, table location, which was basically in a corridor! Which with a dog and a 4 year old, was something of a nightmare. The food is extremely overpriced and underwhelming... for example a child's pizza with tiny side salad and drink was £8.50! The pizza was the kind you'd buy for 99p in a supermarket and we could've used as a Frisbee, it was so hard our granddaughter wouldn't eat it. Sorry I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else

Prebooked breakfast but that was a mistake. What we had would have been cheaper to pay separately. The evening meal was very poor. Pleasant staff doing their best, so found it hard to complain to them. Would not return

We booked here due to easy access to the motorway we just wanted a place to stay and did not expect much. We were delighted with the room, it was clean, nicely decorated and well equipped. The young lady at the desk was extremely helpful and had an iron/board delivered to our room while we ate in the restaurant (fab food). They couldn’t do more to help and we had an excellent stay. I would highly recommend staying here and am only sorry we didn’t get to look around the local area as we were on route elsewhere. It was so much better than just a place to stay and would make a lovely stop over for those with more time, so much better than Travel Inn/ Premier Inn, Ramada etc

Gorgeous olde worlde pub and restaurant. Room was a great size and appreciated the sofa, but some of the fittings are tired and the bathroom let the room down somewhat. I know this is all in plan and when updated will be lovely. The menu is great with some excellent choices. Had a great night's sleep and would definitely return

Rooms are a little dated but due for refurbishment 2023, but I have to say they are still very comfortable and well kept. Food in the adjoining Inn/Restaurant is absolutely fantastic. We'll definitely stay here again.

The room was clean and lovely and warm all night. The fact that there was plenty of tea and coffee making facilities in the room, rather than just the normal 2, and more in the hallway was brilliant being a big coffee lover. The staff were fantastic and helpful and friendly. Obviously at this time of year the place looked amazing with all the twinkly lights and oh so cozy with log fires burning at both ends

Breakfast was really nice, wasn’t included in the price but we knew that when booking. Rooms are in need of updating, rusty radiators, lamp shades are broken and old, carpet badly stained, and beds not that comfy, however this was not our main problem, the main issue was noise, our room was right next to the stairs and the people that stayed in the room directly above us, were very very Noisy until around 3.30am - 4am to the point where the 3 of us couldn’t sleep at all, they were walking about on noisy floorboards all the time, sounded like they were dancing or Something, they were talking very loud, and even heard them boil the kettle around 3pm!!. We had booked this family room to go to out for the day for My daughters birthday as somewhere to rest after a day out and a night out and we didn’t feel like we got any rest at all, we were woken again by comings and going’s around 7.30am so got up had breakfast and left for home exhausted
