Traditional fish and chips how it should be done, crispy batter, soft fluffy chips. We are lucky enough to have the best chippy in the UK (in my opinion) right on our doorstep... Keep up the faultless frying!

If you’re looking for classic comfort food done perfectly, J. Henry’s absolutely delivers. The fish and chips are some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The batter is light, crispy, and golden without being greasy, and the fish inside is flaky and full of flavour. The chips are proper chip-shop style—thick, crispy, yet soft on the inside. The battered sausage is another standout. It comes out piping hot with a crisp coating that doesn’t overwhelm the sausage. Simple, delicious, and exactly what you want from a traditional chippy. What makes it even better is the value. The portions are generous, everything tastes freshly made, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality you get. It’s the kind of place where you leave feeling satisfied in both your stomach and your wallet. Highly recommended if you want top-notch fish and chips without breaking the bank!

First visit to this chippy as we were down south visiting family. New it would be good as soon as I walked in and saw how busy it was. Ended up waiting about ten to fifteen minutes for food but this was peak time Saturday evening and well worth the wait. I had the large cod and the batter was very light and didn't hold any fat. Probably the healthiest fried fish I've ever had. Chips portion was more than I could manage. Shared curry and peas as well for dips. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

Possibly the best fish n chips in the world. Chips crispy on the outside but smooth and creamy inside. Tastiest haddock with crispy batter all over. Pea fritter exceptional. I’m in chippy heaven.

We paid £22 for 2 Cod & 1 chips with 1 curry sauce. Skin on cod fillet was thin & small covered by half inch thick batter to make it look big . However i was impressed by fancy packaging,,, !,, Ps : thank you for your response, on checking my bank statement, noticed that i have been charged £24 for 2 small cod & 1 chips & curry sauce. Perhaps you should offer proper traditional skinless cod fillets, many dont mind paying for proper quality and not being sold skin & thick unhealthy Batter .

Just tucking into the cod and chips now, fish is perfectly portioned, flaky and tastes of the sea, lovely and fresh. Batter is really crisp even after driving 10 minutes to get home, everything was cooked to order. Temperature is good and the chips are tasty. Lovely fish and chips dinner Update June 2022, after a fun family day out to the unwrapped event, treated with a fish and chips with a bit of of a Saveloy sausage and curry sauce. Really fresh fish can definitely taste this, lovely batter crisp, not oily at all and flavour is outstanding. Chips were good, Saveloy toasty and lovely curry sauce. Keep up the good work.
