   Good fish and chip takeaway with good tasty food. The food was not greasy at all. I bought food from them twice in 1 week while on holiday! I phoned ahead to check that they were open and they took my order efficiently and accurately. Friendly staff. Good value. I would use them again. On-street parking near Romsey Abbey church nearby.

   Haddock and standard chips less than £13. However the portion would serve two people. Crispy home made "fat" chips and crunchy fish batter. Excellent food, well done and certainly recommended.

   We needed a quick lunch during a visit to Romsey. We didn’t want to pay top notch pub or cafe prices, the sun was out on this cold, frosty January day, so we chose chips on a bench in the sun. A little bit of a wait whilst they cooked our order but we didn’t mind, it meant it was hot and fresh. We chose from the lunch menu, chips and curry sauce and topped it off with a pea fritter. On opening the paper the portion seemed quite small but for the price and it being lunchtime we weren’t bothered. The portion however was deceiving, it seemed to take ages to eat it and we were definitely full afterwards. The chips were possibly the best chips we have had from any chippy in ages. They certainly didn’t disappoint.

   Firstly, reading about the long waiting time, I have called and ordered on the phone before going. I still had to wait for everything to be slowly boxed up by the young girl that was way too distracted. But ok. Fish and chips is good, no doubt. Even a small cod I found reasonably sized. Chunky cod, crispy batter, oilier than expected but better than average, good chips. Lovely calamari rings. Pickled egg and tartare sauce below expectations. Overall £13.50 was good value. In my opinion this place should improve on the details: I find it annoying having to pay 40p for a ketchup sachet, or £3 for the bottle! Mayo/mustard is just not available. I was asked if I wanted salt and vinegar, but not my thing. I got the tartare sauce that is nothing special and disproportionally overpriced (70p). Just put some of those large bottles on the counter for people to help themselves to. A couple of napkins would be good to have too. I would appreciate a choice of salad or coleslaw. Box stuff up before the customer shows up.

   You mịght enjoy the food, but you'll need to brịng somethịng to do whịle you waịte for them to take your order, then cooke ịt. Ị ordered medịum chịpps, assumed that ị was behịnd long, complịcated orders, but nay, once they had gịven out the 'two-cod-and-chịpps' they got to mịne. The staff seemed confused by the prevịous order requestịng 'salt-but-no-vịnegar', whịch took ten mịnutes to sort out, or maybe they just needed a power-nappe.

   I've visited this fish and chip shop on many different occasions and their chips have been excellent every time. One criticism I do have is that you have to wait in line just for a portion of chips. I've stood in the shop for well over 10 minutes. Surely, it would make sense to do small orders when the larger orders are still being cooked.
