We visited on Boxing Day and, overall, the food was alright, nothing special for the price but an okay roast dinner. Our waitress, who was welcoming, friendly, and I have a dairy allergy, she went above and beyond to make sure I had safe and varied options, even arranging for dairy-free custard to be cooked specially. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly affected by the lack of heating. We understand that the boiler had broken, but sitting in winter in an older property with no heating was extremely cold and did impact the atmosphere and enjoyment of our lunch. While we were kindly offered a complimentary hot drinks half way through our meal, this didn’t fully offset how uncomfortable the temperature was. There was also no hot water, meaning washing hands involved extremely cold water. This raised some concerns around comfort and potentially safety, particularly for kitchen staff who also would not have had access to hot water. We do appreciate that there was nothing the waitress could do about the situation and she was very apologetic when we asked. However, we were not informed about the heating issue in advance or on arrival, and only became aware partway through the meal. Had we been told beforehand, we would have at least come prepared with extra layers or made a different decision. In summary the food was good, outstanding service from our waitress, but the lack of heating and hot water on a winter day had a noticeable negative effect on what could otherwise have been a very enjoyable Boxing Day lunch, sadly means I’m not sure if we’d return.

We hired the private function room for a celebration for my mother’s 80th birthday. We had the afternoon tea buffet for 25 people. Everything at The Kedleston was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Communication when booking with Christy, visits to the venue with Christy and Sally were excellent. The staff on the day were equally as attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and the function room were beautiful. The afternoon buffet was really good and our guests said there was a good selection of sandwiches and cakes. The scones were highly praised. Special dietary requirements were accommodated. We had a guest in a mobility scooter and access was relatively easy through the rear entrance and staff made this a really easy route for her. I cannot recommend the Kedleston enough for small events. Thank you so much to all of the team.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had our wedding at The Kedleston Country House on 4th October 2025 and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue itself is so elegant and beautifully maintained, creating the most stunning backdrop for our day. Everything ran so smoothly, and a huge thank you goes to Helen, who was simply amazing — so organised, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease throughout the whole process. The tapas menu was incredible; our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was! We had so many compliments on both the food and the overall atmosphere. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines elegance, excellent service, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, I couldn’t recommend The Kedleston Country House more highly!

Came for a mass catered event here. Couldn't park in the main car park, which is smallish, the overspill car park is a bit scruffy . However, the hotel itself stands out on the road and has real grandeur. The decor inside the hotel is beautiful, it had a makeover 3 years ago or so and still looks lovely. The staff were very pleasant. The food was more or less acceptable, some weird taste combinations, like a sweet pastry case for a mushroom and olive quiche. The sandwiches were very basic and no frills. There was a bulk of rather greasy tray baked potato. The food quality was a let down for the place as a whole, so would hesitate to recommend.

I booked Kedleston Country House for my Wedding after I feel in love with the venue and location! Everything was magical from start to finish! The Wedding co-ordinator Sarita took care of everything and made us feel super at ease and reassured we’d be getting the day we wanted! She was also super easy to get hold of and answered our queries promptly! The team on the Wedding day were so fantastic, the level of customer service and friendliness was sensational! Helen and Lee were amazing on the day (and the night before). Diane in housekeeping completely transformed the Bridal Suite after the chaos of using it to get ready in the morning and I was blown away with how lovely it looked come the Wedding Night. Sally was super friendly and chatty the day after the Wedding at breakfast! The food was phenomenal both on the Wedding Day and the breakfast the following morning! The rooms are lovely, we’ll equipped with plenty of amenities and there is no noise pollution. I cannot rate the venue high enough and everyone in the team was so invested in ensuring myself, the Groom and the guests were having the best time!

Such a shame Beautiful location and building but the food is average. It’s presented well but tasteless. Cauliflower and blue cheese soup which seemed to have zero blue cheese in it. Half of the wine list isn’t available. Gave us the wrong white wine. Young kids taking the orders, getting the orders wrong and not knowing how to wait on. I soup spoons. Had to ask. Had to ask for them to clear the plates away. A manager who looks, talks the part but does more prancing around than actual managing. Uncomfortable seats for good measure. Such a shame
