My children ordered the mixed box a couple of weeks ago which we all said was banging!! Tonight I ordered hot and sour soup, chicken in chilli black bean sauce and garlic rice….. AMAZING!! Think I just found my new favourite Chinese ❤️
When I went in to get my food on Wednesday, I saw two big rats running into the kitchen. I'm never coming back.
Bland food and very expensive. Not much meat, but loads of carrots and onions. Whatever happened to water chestnuts and bamboo shoots, they never seem to use them now in most dishes! Avoid this place!!
Wouldn’t recommend and would never eat here again. We ordered take away. The food came very quickly. The food was burnt inedible and had to be thrown away. When I called to express my displacement. I was told to choose something else. The person then decided I couldn’t have what I had asked for and that there was a price discrepancy so I told them not to bother. Customer services 0/5 the food was awful a waste. I do NOT recommend this place at all.
I've been using this Chinese for the last 10 years & have never had a bad meal! Highly recommended. Especially the mussels if you love seafood, they're amazing!
Has got more expensive recently and food quality varies as amazing one day to just a little bland another,staff friendly and polite
This is actually a restaurant which serves really good food, so don't be put off by its appearance. Its food is consistently decent and I can't say that for a lot of other restaurants.
Overall this is a good Chinese and we order from here very often. On a rare occasion the food is not fantastic, for example you can tell the chips or chicken balls had gone cold or from earlier in the night and they have been refried. Chips are then so dry and no fluffy potato inside. The salt and pepper chicken can be hit and miss, sometimes it just tastes of salt and with hardly any vegetables - then other items it’s so well seasoned, saucy and tastes amazing! The curry is good, always ask for it hot (spicy) for added flavour. The beef here is very good, always cooked well and soft and tender. Have tried many dishes and overall all very good. Like I said there are some hit and miss times but that’s to be expected. If ordering at the weekend always order early if you can or the wait can be up to 2 hours for delivery, but if you can collect you can do so within about 20 minutes of placing your order. We will continue to order with South Ocean, and it is definitely the best in the area.
Been ordering from hear for about 3 years now and slowly but surely its starting to creep down hill ordered last week, chips were stone cold. The sweet sour chicken was gloopy and cold, rice was hot amazingly, and the ribs were piping hot but it was more bone then meat. And 36 pound for a takeaway that's cold isn't something to boast about. Such a shame was the best around now debating having to find yet another good takeaway again.
