This restaurant was clean and spacious, with lovely decor. I ordered the Emperor bento box, it was nice. I came at lunch time weekday so it was not so busy. They accepted cash only. Service was good and fast. Will visit again
Came for sushi and didn’t leave disappointed! Really lovely and friendly staff, delicious, fresh and well presented food and thought the prices were reasonable too. Definitely a good choice for Sushi in Oxford!
We selected this restaurant to celebrate our son’s birthday, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The staff fulfilled all our requests, and the service was prompt. Our family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend the Hotpot Sukiyaki; its flavor is simply divine! We also indulged in a wheel filled with our favorite sushi rolls, which was not only beautifully presented but also incredibly delicious.
We have visited the UK twice, and I must say that this restaurant has become our favorite spot for comforting Japanese cuisine. The atmosphere feels like home, thanks to the friendly staff and efficient chefs. The dishes are served promptly. Even on tough days when our mood may be low, stepping into this restaurant makes us feel truly cared for. They go the extra mile to ensure your comfort and satisfaction with the food.
Nice hot pot and tap water. Their spicy tonkotsu ramen and Japanese beef curry are delicious after a 8 hour commute from Crete.
Amazing food and service. Our waitress was so friendly and happy, and it's possibly some of the best sushi I've ever had!
Atmosphere was quiet, surprised they closed at 9pm, quite early for oxford restaurants. Service was good, and food came out quickly. Ordered the tonkatsu ramen with karrage, would've been nice to have a Mayonnaise sauce with the karrage to make it less dry Ramen was good, broth was not as rich as I'd had previously at other places though
Wow. What a great find. Not on one of the busy streets, but still in the heart of Oxford. Fantastic food and good value. Authentic Japanese food and service. We had the: - Agedashi Tofu - Moriwase Tempura (veg & prawns) - Japanese Beef Curry & Rice (served in super hot stone bowl) - Pork Shogayaki Bento Box - 2 x tea, served in beautiful cast iron tea pots A bottle of tap water was already on the table, and they bring you clean glass with ice if you like your water super cold. Service was fast and food arrived quickly, though without feeling rushed. The meal came to just over £55 inc service charge. Really good value. Portions are decent. We were both hungry on arrival and was stuffed when leaving. Would defintely go again next time I'm in Oxford, and will try the sushi and sashimi. On a slow Monday early evening, it was interesting that a place was already filling up with a mainly Asian clientele. For those who are COVID risk averse, all the staff wore masks and they encouraged you to sanitise your hands as you entered. I really appreicated that. Note: It was cash only when we went because the card machine was down. Worth checking before you sit down so you don't get caught.
If I could give this place more than 5* I would. So good that we went here twice in the two days we were in Oxford! A welcome addition to the Asian food scene in Oxford and one that I wish we had when I was studying here a few years ago! The Shokado bento is an absolute must get - beautiful presentation, delicious food, and at a very reasonable price of just ~£16. Absolutely a must visit!
