A real village pub. We’ve been going there for years and are never disappointed. This time we were a large group, we had to wait a little bit but it is worth it. The Bento box is a great addition to an already very good selection

A Fantastic Pub Lunch Experience I visited this pub on a busy bank holiday Saturday in a group of four, and it was a great experience from start to finish. (The Photos were taken before the placed filled up) The pub's atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between old-world charm and modern style, creating a relaxed and welcoming setting. The food was outstanding. We ordered a variety of dishes: the 'The Chippy' Battered Haddock, Woodsman Chicken, Dirty Chicken Wrap, and the Roman Burger. Every meal was delicious, cooked to perfection, and served in generous portions—even the smaller "mini chippy" was a good size. The dishes were thoughtfully crafted, and the accompanying salads were a nice touch. The hand-cut chips were a highlight—chunky, crispy, and with a wonderfully soft centre. Everything was served hot, promptly, and offered great value for the price. The service was just as impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable. Our orders were taken quickly, and their flexibility in accommodating our requests was a nice touch. They clearly care about making their customers feel welcome. To top it all off, the pub offers a great selection of well-kept real ales. Overall, this pub is definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting with top-notch service.

Nice pub part of the "Exeter group". Hard working attentive staff and well kept beers with a good, if simple food menu. I had the Ham egg and chips with a side order of onion rings. All fine but please guys change the fat in the deep fryer or all your potential 5 Stars will be demoted to 3's. Recommend but could be so much better.

No ice for drinks. Food not seasoned. Had the muddy nachos, which were nice. We had the Korean chicken wings, which were nice, but deserved a runny sauce instead of a thick cold sauce on the side. Something like a hot honey would have been perfect. The butter milk chicken burger is a chicken thigh, which wasn’t seasoned and didn’t taste like it was brined in buttermilk or used to coat before battering. Definitely would have been a better choice for the burger if it was a chicken breast fillet burger. The batter was far too crispy and hard to crunch, the bacon was plain and didn’t taste smoked, which would have added a depth of flavour. There is absolutely no need for guacamole to be on this burger at all. The “chips” are more of a skin on wedge ordeal. A plate would have been more ideal that serving on a broken wooden board and also more hygienic and easy to eat off. We sat outside given it’s a lovely day, but inside was busy occupied with drinkers. Over all, a really confusing menu with cuisines. They had construction work on, so you had to use the main entrance and walk to and from the car park, which had a little area within the car park where you were seated outside and given the Belper area, a lot more could have made outside more welcoming, but we were just sat in a car park eating. £71.05 for 2 cokes, muddy nachos, double portion of chicken wings and two chicken burgers.

This is a lovely place. I love that they're dog-friendly! The staff are lovely - honestly, it was quite busy when we were there, so they were rushed off their feet, but they were always smiling, friendly, and making sure things ran smoothly. Fantastic customer service. We really enjoyed our meal (prepare for large portions!) and I hope we can visit again in the future.
