My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and told Jo, the owner, how over the moon we were with our three course meal, the excellent service, and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The vegetarian & vegan menu offered a wide choice of tasty starters, mains and desserts. I was also impressed with the disabled parking and toilet facilities. All in all it was a memorable time spent being very well looked after.

The owner of this cafe needs to do something with the staff because he is losing a lot. The location of the cafe is just great and amazingly beautiful, that is why we will come again. But everything else is bad: the staff deceives guests and spoils the impression of the cafe, there is no service and they do not even have any idea about it. We called the day before the visit to book a table with a lake view and an umbrella from the sun, like we saw in the photo of this cafe on their website and what the girl told us - we do not book tables on the terrace and we do not have umbrellas from the sun, and also we can only book a table inside the premises. But! When we arrived, the first thing I saw was a reserved table on the terrace with a beautiful view of the lake for other people, the second was our table on the side of the cafe, not inside and not on the terrace, but near the entrance to the cafe without a view of the lake (there was a feeling that we were second-class people for them and our place near the front door was like for dogs near a store). Then we got the Sunday lunch menu and it ABSOLUTELY did not match the menu shown on the cafe website, I wanted to order baked Camembert and assorted fish and shrimp, but it was not on the menu, then I asked for a fish dish from the current menu, to which the waitress replied, there is no fish.... Having chosen a fried pork leg, I received boiled pork with salt and complete disappointment from the kitchen, the only good thing was ice cream, but the chef did not cook it, so it is not his merit. As for the service, the waiter did not clear the dirty table after other customers, wasps sat on the remains of food on the table the whole lunch. When they brought us food, we had to look for cutlery ourselves twice at the service table and our hot dishes got cold because there were no forks, only knives. On top of that, waiters carry glasses holding the edge of the glass with dirty fingers where they touch the customers' lips, and it's not just our drinks that were brought, but other guests too, so if someone gets diarrhea later, it will be surprising. Please buy them a book or video lessons on how to serve guests in a restaurant...

It was really windy and nice outside. Lots of ducks and water fowls about, beautiful sight to see. Food was nice and the wait was short despite the fact that it was so busy! Very impressive.

What a beautiful meal. The bowls club I play for have now held their pre Christmas get together here for a few years. This place is great for a 3 course meal or a piece of cake and a latte. As the name LAKESIDE suggests it's situated by a small lake and is a beautiful place to sit and pass an hour while you nibble away and sip a refreshing drink. They do have alcoholic beverages as well as usual soft drink options, tea, coffee hot chocolate etc. It has a large car park and several disabled parking spaces right next to the bistro/ cafe. Inside has seating for around 40 people and outside a similar number some under cover. Highly recommend this place to everyone..... Beautiful.!!

Bit disappointed overall starter's where great but mostly deep fried at least the ones I choose but between the server not knowing the food or drink menu at all (she did say she was new ) when ordering and the driest inedible belly pork I've ever had and un cooked bubble and squeak really let the place down .And I at 37 was the probably one of the youngest guest in the room any poor dear wouldn't get their teeth into this dish or if they did they would never get them out again

Beautiful Lakeside location with tea rooms and ouside patio and deck serving tea, coffee, beers, wine, cakes, sandwiches and baguettes. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Having not tried any of the homemade cakes, I can only comment of the imagineless plate I ordered off the hot sandwiches part if the menu - the fried fish goujon. I was not particularly impressed with the standard. Thr accompanying chips felt, tasted and looked shop bought re'heated in an oven. Lonely green leaves, peper and tomatoes doused in balsamic vinegar made a sad version of salad. Personally, more imagination and creative cooking techniques could be achieved quite easily at the Lakeside Bistro for presentation and quality of their food.
