I visited your Oxford road B&M Reading store on 4th of October (Saturday). I did my morning food shopping nearby first and decided to go to check new collections in store so I can come back later that day by car and with my husband. I browsed around the store, seen many things I liked and made note of them. Then I went to the exit through the tills as usual, also as this is the only way to go out. Imagine my shock when I walked down the carpark and I realised someone is shouting at me to stop. I looked back just to see your security guard demanding to search my bags. I was horrified & embarrassed as the carpark is for the whole shopping centre. You security would not let me go so I showed him my food shopping from Waitrose and he left. Just to make you aware forcing someone to search their bags without consent and not even at your premises is as far as I know illegal. I did not give my consent, I was forced to do it for no reason other than not purchasing anything. I faced embarrassment at the carpark and I felt humiliated. I immediately went back to the store and asked 3 ladies at the tills who ordered the security to run after me and on what basis as I would love to know. Security guy disappeared at that point. None of the ladies said it was them so I asked for a store manager who was apologetic however she said that this was triggered by me passing the tills without buying anything. Do you chase after every shopper that leaves without buying anything creating huge show outside for people to see? I still dont know what have I done to be accused of stealing and searched against my will. Judging by reviews of the store on google this is common practice which I will address with HQ.

I recently purchased gnash & gnaw beef tripe sticks for my dog from this store. I gave to my dog on sat and sun evenings. My dog was seriously dehydrated within an hour of consuming on each evening. Desperate for water every half hour for 6 hours into the night.. then fine till I gave him treat next day. Initially I did not relate the problem to the treat and visited my vet. It was decided to omit treat that night. Dog fine. By a process of elimination it had to be the beef tripe stick that caused the upset. I will not buy again. Beware.

Great shop. Amazing range of products. They have a good range of protein powders, which are very reasonably priced. Decent garden centre. Staff are polite and courteous. Good location with tons of convenient parking. Today, there was a pigeon walking about in there. Unsurprisingly, in the bird food aisle!

Review for B&M Store’s Pet Tennis Balls I recently purchased a set of 4 pet tennis balls from B&M, which unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. While the price point of £2.5 seemed reasonable, the balls’ quality was rather disappointing. Quality & Transparency: One expects pet-specific tennis balls to be durable, especially if they are advertised as such. Sadly, my experience did not reflect this. The product’s labeling is somewhat misleading, suggesting durability but not delivering on that promise. Additionally, the ambiguous “Pet Shop” logo could mislead consumers into thinking it is from an established pet shop, rather than being a B&M product. Value for Money: Given B&M’s impressive profitability, one might anticipate better quality in their products. I understand cost-cutting measures, but it’s disheartening to see a potential compromise on product quality, especially when consumers trust the brand. Customer Service: On a brighter note, I found B&M’s upper-tier customer service to be quite responsive when I reached out about my concerns. However, my experience at the store level was different. I was denied a refund by a store manager, which felt dismissive given my genuine concerns. More empathy and a willingness to understand the customer’s perspective would have been appreciated. Conclusion: While B&M offers a range of products and often provides value for money, it’s essential for consumers to be discerning, especially with products that might appear to promise more than they deliver. I hope my experience serves as constructive feedback for B&M to potentially reconsider some of their product offerings or at least the way they’re advertised.

Just wanted to say thank you to the staff who helped me today, the young man who found the price of an item, then the young man who served me, he offered to check I had all the attachments for the water butt I was buying (I couldn't get the lid off to check). Then one of the store colleagues carried it to the car for me. Great service - thank you.

Nice store, lots of products as reasonable prices, good offer on screen wash last time I was there, 2 bottles for £5. Could do with more tills open as always long queues and wait to pay.

Always great value for money with a wide range of products for all household (including DIY and decor) and garden needs. Also offer a large selection of pet products and foods, furnishings, even some furniture items. Prices are very good and the staff are always helpful and friendly.
