We came here for breakfast and left extremely disappointed. The prices are ridiculously high for what you get, and the food quality doesnβt come close to justifying it. Portions were small, presentation was average, and the taste was nothing memorable. Service was slow and inattentive, especially for a breakfast spot where quick service is expected. Overall, it felt like we were paying for the name and location rather than the actual experience.

Visited Chaiiwala in Reading today and unfortunately the "samosas" were really disappointing... They were bland, lacked flavour, and just didnβt taste good at all. Definitely not what we expected! On the positive side, the gulab jamuns were delicious (highly recommended) and the karak chai was good.

Overall Impression: Chaiwala offers a mixed culinary experience, presenting strong points in its dessert and beverage offerings, but falling significantly short on its signature savory snack, the samosa. This review evaluates the quality of the food and drink based on a recent visit. βSavory Item: Samosa (Area for Improvement) Regrettably, the samosas were a major disappointment. The primary issue lay with the filling, specifically the potato preparation. The flavor profile of the spiced potato was distinctly unusual, lacking the expected freshness and aromatic balance typical of a quality samosa. This resulted in an undesirable taste that detracted entirely from the enjoyment of the snack. Significant review of the samosa recipe and preparation process is highly recommended to meet customer expectations. βBeverage: Karak Chai (Satisfactory) The traditional chai, however, provided a comforting and well-executed experience. It was flavorful and suitably brewed, offering a pleasant warmth. On a rating scale, the chai scored a satisfactory 7 out of 10, making it a reliable choice for customers visiting primarily for a tea break. βDessert: Gulab Jamun (Highly Recommended) The standout item of the visit was undoubtedly the gulab jamun. These were excellent, achieving the perfect balance of sweetness and moisture. The texture was soft and melting, indicating high-quality preparation. This dessert earned a solid 8 out of 10 and is strongly recommended for anyone visiting the establishment.

The cafe is quiet and have a good atmosphere. The food is a bit overpriced, for me the Desi breakfast is way too much for Β£13. I could get a proper breakfast everywhere for a cheaper price. We also got the cheese nan and any extra toppings are chargeable. I think the grilled cheese nan was Β£3.50 and I had a strawberry lemonade for Β£3.50. The lemonade was definitely made with readymade lemon juice with a slice of fresh lemon.

Beautiful place and lovely interiors. Sophisticated design. Enjoyed the karak chai here, took me back to Hyderabad. Staff looked a bit overwhelmed but otherwise excellent service!

I have ordered a milkshake mango took them 45 minutes to make my milkshake. Donβt waste your money over there nothing is good the food smells what I have ordered around Β£40 Waste of money. I have already complained to Reading Council.

Excellent Karak Tea and Pink (Kashmiri) tea, full of taste and freshly made. Cheesy chips were good too but only one thing needs to improved which is potatos quality (suggestion). The taste of chips were not good(Dry) as it should be but all other things were awesome and delicious. Many thanks.

Disappointed to visit this store in Reading as this is my favourite tea chain. It took them more than 15 minutes just for my tea after taking my order as they said they had to make it. While I was standing there , I noticed mould and rotten Gulab Jamun and Gajarela turned into pinkish colour as I believe the displayed sample has not been changed for a long time. Mentioned this on this particular day to the day staff, only to come later in the evening and its still there in the display.
