Have been in here a few times and never left a review so I thought it was time. Great little pub with an above average menu. Dog friendly and seems to be a good mix of locals at the bar and others eating.
Great Sunday roast, best service you can wish for. Staff is really helpfull and hospitable. We enjoyed this pub a lot.
A wonderfully relaxed country pub serving excellent food. We started with nachos, nicely pepped up with freshly cut jalapeños and greens, plus generous helpings of guacamole, sour cream and salsa. For mains we had pan-fried ox liver with rosemary mash and the Hampshire burger. I loved that everything arrived fresh and piping hot — plates included. We’ll definitely be back.

Having a later table booked for Sunday Lunch 3.30pm the pub was relatively quiet but still Ben and Chloe made you feel welcome with their professional friendly approach. The complementary sourdough with balsamic vinegar and oil with rock salt was a nice touch. You really don't need a starter when you see the size of the extremely warm plate with an amazing selection of fresh vegetables, with a very good portion of meat, the roast potatoes were delicious crispy and tasted amazing. Proper homemade looking dinner. Service was great. We go out for Sunday lunch often and this has gone straight into top 3. Well done team.
Found this lovely little pub. didn't have food but looked really nice and it was busy for food. Nice little areas to sit and chill, Staff friendly and welcoming atmosphere really nice. asked for a pint of Salem Red Ale got given Amber Ale the barman said it was the Red, partner drank that one but on second pint he had the Red Ale but was very cloudy to be told was end of barrel. I will say though it was still a lovely place, it is set in a beautiful place called Droxford just on the edge of Southampton and near Shirrel Heath, very dog friendly which is nice, Would go again and recommend its beautiful
A lovely, welcoming pub, with great food and staff. We enjoyed a roast and a dessert, plus a few local ales. Overall, we have a lovely time. Prompt, friendly services. Accommodating over our dogs. Would highly recommend.
Staggered by the paltry childs portion proffered for £7.50. After complaining we were initially offered more of the same, but then another staff member came over and said it should have come with a choice of chips or mash and veg. The price for the small dish of macaroni cheese on its own was reduced to £4.5. What added to our annoyance was that blame was apportioned to my 8 year old granddaughter for not specifying her side options choices. In all normal eating establishments the server would ask for the choice of side dishes or options you would like. Wholly unprofessional.
Award winning roast that was a little lacklustre and overpriced. The service was good and very attentive. But some of the vegetables were undercooked, the parsnips were very el dente, the huge Yorkshire puddings were overcooked. And at £18 for beef roast - I expected more than two thin slices of beef. This once spectacular pub/restaurant has slid way down the gastronomic ladder. It was always a place I'd hope to visit on each of my visit to the UK. But no more. Three of us ordered a trio of quote SEARED scallops. As you can see one had passed a happyish time in the pan but not the others. In fact we each had one seared scalloped and two flabby others. As you can see the presentation left much to be desired. The chips of rock hard chorizo added nothing to the dish, but there again neither did the cold pea puree nor the completely unidentifiable sauce. I didn't complain at the time as I was a guest, but its definitely time for Adam to get back into the kitchen.
