   Nice looking pub. When we arrived at 12.30 for our booked table the place was absolutely freezing and despite them lighting a fire there and then we sat with our coats on the whole time. Request to turn the heating on didn’t materialise. The waitress was friendly and really efficient. Drinks were good but sadly the food was below average. The roast meat and potatoes were definitely not fresh (and tasted like yesterdays heated up), bland mash potato on other dishes and well below average. No one really enjoyed the food so we won’t be returning to eat. IMO the menu is too big - cut it down and concentrate on cooking a few dishes well.

   Been here several times and always enjoyed the food, however this Sat 2 of the meals were appalling. The turkey roast dinner I ordered looked and tasted vile, with hindsight I should have complained and to top it off it was £22!! The chicken fajitas my friend ordered were not good either. Very little chicken and the onions/peppers were black. The other 2 meals that came out looked lovely and my husband and my friends husband said they were nice. Sadly this has put me off another visit. You really need to look at that roast dinner it was disgusting.

   Wow 1st time eating food here. The food was amazing value for money and tasted fantastic. The staff are friendly and there was a great atmosphere. We were lucky to get a table. Would highly recommend and will be eating there again!

   I’m so shocked at my experience at this establishment. Wasn’t very busy in restaurant section but was a little at the bar. The bar seemed more important than the restaurant side as service was a little slow. As for the food not great. Dry is the word the sums up our 4 different dish choices. Now if one of the four was slightly dry I would put it down to a bad dish it can happen, but for all four to be dry isn’t a great advert for this establishments food. One meal was so bad it had to be sent back. Once we had eaten all we could we have some feed back to our server when she reported it back to what I guess was the landlady we were accused of trying to get free food. I was shocked at this as not once had we asked for anything to be removed from the bill. The landlady’s attitude from that point was absolutely disgusting rude and abrupt in front of my children and other customers was that bad she cost her young waitress a tip. This seems like a great little venue maybe add some flavour to your food and some customer service lessons needed. Would never recommend or visit again

   Absolutely wonderful! We were a party of six and were well looked after from start to finish. We each enjoyed a main course and a dessert. Main courses were fish pie (with fennel in and just the right amount), lamb cooked to perfection, an amazing and very generous pie along with two huge and tasty burgers. Meals served with seasonal veg as appropriate and these were all cooked well. Desserts ordered included sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake and apple crumble- again delicious! The young lady who served us was perfectly attentive but not overbearing. She was courteous and appeared to genuinely enjoy her job as she smiled throughout service. All of this offset with the ambiance and aroma of crackling fire. Lunches don't get better than this.

   Waste of time and money, great venue and I’ve known friends to have pleasant experiences here but service was appalling today, ordered 3 roast dinners, only 2 bowls of vegetables came out, assuming the 3rd was on the way we dished them up, when asked about the 3rd we were told, sorry the two bowls were for the 3 of us… not “apologies we will go and get that now” so as one of us was vegetarian they just had no vegetables with their dinner as we had put meat gravy on the others. No roast parsnips with our food that we saw others who ordered roasts had, the crackling would have been quite nice but it was absolutely caked in salt for some reason which made it inedible, I assumed it was done on purpose because I asked for extra gravy but heard others say how disgusting it was too. I feel we caught them on a bad day but seeing as the food is priced on the higher side it’s no excuse. There was a nice dog bumbling around though.
