Had 3 bacon doorstoppers this morning, all with mouldy white bread. My friend went back to the shop to complain, but I just threw mine in the bin. At £3 each, you'd think they'd use fresh bread?? Avoid this place

Every time we come from Brazil to visit my mother in law we go there to have some real English breakfast! It's excellent, well served, and well prepared. They have coffee, tea, some different sorts of beverages, like sodas and canned juice. The staff is very polite and efficient in their service and the place is clean.

It’s undergone a refurbishment since I was last there, making it look fresh and more modern but unfortunately the cooking has taken a real nose dive, also the modernist pictures really aren’t nice and they make little sense in that setting we kind felt disappointed at the clinical feel of it. we would travel from Lichfield to Paul’s cafe, the breakfast was never greasy and always tasted lovely but it’s sad to say on this visit the bacon tasted like you’d just got the salt shaker and poured it down your throat, the toast was soggy and unusually for the breakfast at this cafe it was very greasy. The tea has changed and there was a lot of residue on the cup afterwards. The cutlery is badly wrapped and it’s just not as good as before, cheap napkins perhaps a lot of it is cost cutting? I do feel awful writing such a bad review about the cafe, but hopefully they will pick up on the issues and turn things around a little as we certainly won’t be going there for a while now, Paul’s cafe to us always stood out as a welcoming quality cafe and now standards have dropped severely. Paul sit down and eat one of your own breakfasts that’s been made for someone else, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Being generous giving it a 2 star because the staff were friendly. The sausage was the cheapest they could buy… don’t skimp on the bloody sausage, it’s the one item you can’t skimp on, and it was barely cooked. The tomatoes were a watery mess merging with the beans, the eggs were in a pool of grease… it was just bland and clearly the cheapest ingredients possible. It’s not hard to make a quality full cooked breakfast, why do some places struggle? I thought Wetherspoons was bad.

First visit today and certainly not my last. Lovely folk run Paul’s Cafe, the mega breakfast was superb and the place was clean and today. Great value too! Well recommended!
