2 out of the 3 times I have been they have forgot about our food order, and not told us they have forgot it until we have been waiting for an hour. The last time I went we ended up waiting nearly 1.5 hours for our lunch, (and the drinks took 30 mins and they had to take our drinks order again as they forgot it). They told us for the wait they would take us the drinks off the bill. When we went to pay the drinks were still there so i queried, they then had to check this which took another 10 mins to rectify. Their lunch is better than their breakfast, but their service is slow and not attentive. They do make a fuss of my dog though which is nice, and they are kind people so it is a shame.

This is the second time we have visited in the past week. Midweek lunch was fine and the ploughmanβs lunch is a hearty meal. The range of pastries and cakes are tempting too. The Sunday lunch is less spectacular. They donβt scrimp on the portions, there is plenty of meat and veg, but the meat was not as tender as I would have liked and though the cauliflower cheese is nice, the carrots and beans were dull. Overall a 7 out of 10.

Weβd booked online without issue. All of us had dined a number of times at the Cafe before it evolved into the Bar and Bistro as well. This was our first visit since it re-opened The entrance isnβt marked very clearly. Upon entering, it is clear itβs maintained itβs charm and character inside. The decor and aesthetic are perfect for the style and history of the site We were led promptly to our table after the Server checked it was ready for us, and once seated our drinks order was taken soon after Our food order was taken and we relaxed with our drinks. The Bistro was busy, with a nice atmosphere. It was comfortably warm too, well lit, and nicely laid out Our food came on unnecessarily large plates. It was well presented, and the sides of green veg were fresh and perfectly cooked. The Cauliflower Cheese was gorgeous (and plentiful) too. As for the Roasts, the portions were bang on, with enough gravy too, and everything was hot. We werenβt offered and sauces, though thankfully none of us wanted any Staff checked back to ask how the food was. When clearing the plates, we were offered more drinks and the Dessert Menu. We all looked at the menu and ordered shortly thereafter Desserts took a while to come out. They looked lovely when they arrived (better plate sizing this time). They could have been hotter, but were fine to eat. I had the Apple Crumble Tart which tasted lovely, but the pastry and crumble topping were both dry We had to catch someoneβs attention to ask for the Bill once everything had been cleared from the table. Bill and card machine were presented shortly thereafter, and payment taken A lot of the staff are young. All seemed nice enough, but there was very limited interaction with us - transactional as opposed to conversational Overall, we all enjoyed our visit, and would likely return We used the Toilets whilst there. They were well lit, clean, stocked for use, and smelled fresh Sunday Lunch - 4 adults - 2 courses each - Food and Drinks - February - Β£31 per person

Service was a bit all over the place, food was nice but scones hard and dry - overbaked. Had to ask for milk and sugar after ten mins of having coffee and tea pot, and alsl not asked what sort of tea we wanted. No sweetners offered. Tea cups were dirty too we had to wipe. Overall disappointed for my birthday treat .

Tried the Bistro this evening. Although the menu wasn't very large all the food was very good quality, well presented and good portions. Service from staff was very good as well.

A large group of us attended here for a retirement lunch and we could not have been better looked after. The table was set up and they accommodated us preordering due to the short lunch break we all had. Absolutely wonderful food, all served hot and at the same time!
