Reviewing the pub / restaurant as haven’t stayed in the hotel bit. Been numerous times for the carvery and it’s wonderful. Good choice of meats and lots of options for veg. Quite a traditional pub but a NICE one with a lovely conservatory adding a more modern feeling in that area. Tables nicely spread so you don’t feel crammed in which is all too common in lots of places now (The Dragon, Bulls Head etc) so you don’t feel you’re sat with the people on another table 2 feet away. So atmosphere and surroundings are spot on. Landlord (I assume he was) was very friendly and welcoming and made us feel immediately “at home”. It’s an order at the bar style pub and obviously you have to get up to get your carvery. All very fast and efficient, never waited more than a few minutes to get food. Although the food is great I’m giving 4* as they can be a little less generous with the meat. I know it’s the most expensive bit for them as a business but when you see the staff trying their hardest to cut thinnest slice possible it is a little disappointing. The meat is the main event and I want a good portion. It’s a shame as the rest of the food is wonderful, particularly the cauliflower cheese. Essentially just a bit more meat and it’d be perfect. Reasonably priced and puddings were great too. I had the homemade bread and butter pudding and it was a big portion and tasted as good as it looked. Overall a great meal out but I’d just like enough meat to make it feel like shortcuts aren’t being taken. Also by far the best WiFi password of any place I’ve been!

Reasonable carvery, although the meat portions were a bit on the small side. Vegetables could have done with more seasoning. The WiFi password is displayed behind the bar "Starmer is a Clown." Lovely bit of prime Gammon at the carvery counter.

This was my first visit here - what a wonderful pub with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The carvery was fantastic - the best I've had in a long time by far. The pork was delicious (and the other meats looked good too!) with a wonderful selection of veg! I'll definitely be back!

Excellent Carvery. Good price. Beautiful location. Beautiful pub. Will be back. And the Apple and Strawberry homemade crumble is just like mum use to make... delicious 10 out of 10.

Lovely location, building and outdoor area. I used the car park whilst doing the Anchor Church Trail and popped in for a pint after. The service from James was superb, not just to me, but consistently from what I observed, I’d say the best I’ve personally witnessed, kind & personable. Great pint as well, would recommend.

Just a lovely friendly, cosy pub. Whenever I'm in the area I always try to just a pop in for a drink. If you need to get warm the fireplace is always blazing in the winter.

We have stayed here before covid , the cabins are looking tired inside now and could do with a little TLC. We had a issue with our first cabin , but they was able to move us to a cleaner cabin . We ordered the bread and etc on the friday . Came to have our bread early Sunday morning but couldn't eat it as it was all mouldy. The bread wasn't fresh disappointing .

This is the second time I have been, I had lunch with two of my friends. A friendly welcome and great food nicely cooked, people wanted to pay separately and it was no trouble to the young man behind the bar to sort it all out for us a good time was had by us all,and they take dogs which was music to my ears.

Apologies for the delay in writing a review ...We stayed in lodge 2 for approximately 4 weeks while awaiting the completion of our house purchase. We were well looked after by Nick and James and we found several little walks that we could manage very well . The Sunday Carvery was really lovely and the food in general was excellent. The pub has a mature clientele, not just in years but in attitude in general. It isn't open late, so you are not likely to be disturbed if you are an early to bed type of person. We got to know the cleaner who offered to clean even though we opted to do that ourselves. She replenished anything we needed and there is a facility for lodge residents to wash and dry clothes. All in all, it suited our requirements down to the ground. The lodges back onto fields and the river on a fairly quiet lane, so it was peaceful ......and Maggie the dog became a regular visitor to our lodge to chase after balls and receive doggie treats . Thank you Nick and everyone for taking the stress out of the last few weeks of a stressful 18 months of house hunting. Chris Wright & Dave Hall

Visited Sunday with wife and our cocker spaniel. Fantastic service and an amazing carvery. Treats galore for our dog with lots of attention given and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend.
