Lovely large pub, very clean and tidy. Plenty of seating indoors and outside, and plenty of drink choices. This pub is very well known for keeping great beer so is a must for any ale drinkers, they've won many awards. It does get very busy especially at weekends, but has a lovely friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit

A very disappointing experience at this pub. While I understand that service can sometimes be slow or uneven, what I witnessed went far beyond that. It appeared that a customer was being treated differently from others in a way that seemed racially motivated. The staff’s dismissive attitude toward them—compared to how other guests were being served—was hard to ignore. It left others in the group around, very uncomfortable. Hospitality should be about making every guest feel welcome, respected, and valued, regardless of who they are. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I cannot recommend this place until the management addresses these issues seriously. It should also be noted that the demographic leaving positive reviews for this pub gives a very good indicator of the type of patrons they are happy to serve.

Took my mixed race partner here.. they refused to serve her. Absolute racist staff. The land lord and land lady are really nice but they need to employ non racist staff. Every person of colour should go to this pub and make them serve them. Every one irrespective of colour deserves the right to go to a pub and enjoy a drink. This staff behind the bar need to wake up and accept the diversity of this country. My partner is mixed race and was born I. This country…. She’s been banned from this pub and the landlord and gave no explanation as to why she was banned. Racist to the extreme.

ABSOLUTELY RACIST.. I didn’t even manage to buy my friends a drinks and I got refused for being the only black coloured woman. My partner ordered the first round and they forgot one drink.. couple mins later I sat down. The landlord sheepishly came to our table accusing me of being rude even though I hande spoken to anybody. The wrongfulness was shocking.. but again I never even ordered a drink at the bar to get such demeaning attention and accusations. I NEVER ORDERED A SINGLE DRINK. When I went to bar I as told they wouldnt serve me. my suggestion every black should show up to this pub and make them feel uncomfortable. We all have the RIGHT to go the pub irrespective of colour. MAKE THEM SERVE YOU, I couldn’t.

Nice old fashioned pub. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. Enjoyed my visit.

only rating one star as i couldn’t rate 0. went to visit for a drink as new to the area with my family. as soon as we parked up somebody who stated herself as the “landlady” started aggressively telling us to move, barely even gave us chance to get a word in. was absolutely appalled as this is the first pub in the area we had visited since moving and was a horrific experience. please do not waste your time visiting this pub especially not with children!!!!!! to the landlady, you’re very rude especially when my children were clearly present!

The Devonshire Arms is a cozy, quaint little neighbourhood pub just a few minutes from Burton station. The real ale selection is adequate, and the decor typical for a community boozer. Friendly atmosphere and that just-feels-like-old-times kick make this a place to spend a nice evening. Nice staff, too. Solid option in a good real ale town.
