Loved the food and ambience. We ordered Texas chicken melt and chicken burger which were delightful. Lot of parking space and an ideal pub to stop on the way to Carsington. Special thanks to the staffs for their great service.

Absolutely disgusted with how we've just been treated. We've been looking for a nice pub to have a lovely mother's day meal. As we came across this pub, we thought it looked inviting from the outside so we decided to give it a try. We asked if they had any availability for us and the woman said she would go and ask, to then come back and abruptly tell us that "no we can't". There was no apology and no customer service what so ever. We came away feeling very judged. Hospitality needs improving 100%.

Went up mid week and there was specials on, I had a bacon and Brie burger, it was absolutely perfect, the best meal I have had in years! Wine was lovely and it was so not expensive! Such a lovely experience, will 100% go back. It was dog and child friendly. Such a good pub!!!!!!!

What a fantastic place to meet up with friends. Plenty of space for a large group and a large car park to boot. The food is exceptional and you will be very pleased with the quality and price. Large variety of drinks on tap as well. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

A lovely family run guest house and pub. Their en-suite rooms are beautifully furnished, very clean and provide everything you need. Excellent value for money. Breakfast was faultless and lunches and evening meals are delicious and home cooked. Very kind and friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.

Honestly , at the time of writing this is our favourite pub in Derbyshire . Our top picks on the menu, for those unsure are the fish finger sandwich, The cheeseburger, the BBQ chicken baguette and the fish cakes . The staff are super nice and best of all, they allow dogs in; Toby the dachshund loves it. The village offers two pubs but based on experience, I wouldn’t bother with the other, it’s too much of a risk and inconsistent. Just head to the Black Horse inn. If you’re stuck for choice in drinks, Madri is the larger and the small bottles of wine are nice too.
