Tool over an hour for was a fairly simple length cut. Obviously made a mistake, but was left with an uneven haircut and didn’t notice until I got home

Jen was amazingly good with her craft, and she’s passionate about hairdressing. She’s also such a friendly and interesting person that before I’d realise, my hair cut was done!

Always great and fast service from the team at Duke Street Barbers. Prices are always reasonable. Jen always does a great job and I highly recommend her, and the whole team actually. Cash-only, but really not a big issue when it’s a 30-second walk from the free cash point at Tesco.

I visited this shop yesterday, 2 people in the 2 chairs available and a couple of kids with their father waiting. Great I thought not busy at all. I walked in and said hello!! In a cheery manner, Stuart who eventually gave me a substandard hair cut after being in the barbers for almost 2 hours, looked up as I said hello and just carried on his cut, not even an acknowledgement from either staff, how rude I thought. However it was so busy everywhere else so stuck with it, when it came to my turn I got in the chair and Stuart saying in a really rude tone Verbatim "and how do you want it"?...lol I was like "oh hello how are you"? The reply to that was a very short I'm fine I'm fine, I nearly got up and walked out then for the second time, if it wasn't for the fact I had already waited soooo long. This has to be the rudest and uncomfortable hair cut of my life. Never ever again I will also recommend to people to avoid avoid avoid. Rude and unfriendly never ever come here.

The barber seemed to rush my hair and didn’t cut it how I asked him to. Ended up very uneven on the top, dreadful fade and cut half my beard but not the other side until I prompted him. The cut was so bad that I had to buzz cut my hair later that day. Don’t go there.

I cannot be objective on my review since i use this Barber shop for 7+ years now. Book online or walk in, friendly people and balanced prices.

Lovely waiting area with a decent mix of new magazines to read while you wait. £17 for a normal mens cut is bordering on expensive for Reading town centre. My son had his hair cut by the lady who has been there for years - I think her name is Leonora. She took her time (without being too long) but her care and effort showed and his hair was cut really well, where as I, had a guy who rushed. There was only one other customer waiting at the time and he was only sat for about 5 mins, so there was no need to, but the result was mediocre. Perhaps he was just having a bad day?

Have been coming to Duke St to have my hair cut for many years, and so happy to raise a hand to the barber shop here. Good central location and you don't have to wait too long. Good array of magazines to occupy you should it be busy on a Friday/Saturday. They will also be showing the football during the World Cup festivities. Can recommend H and Stuart among the other excellent staff. Good neat mens haircuts. Buzzz
