   My wife Took her car into Lawrence of kemney in balmedie since we're local. I'm a time served mechanic and Mot tester and have just moved out of the trade. I gave my car a once over and had no problems going forward getting tested. I got a phone call to say it has failed on the handbrake travel. I have a video in which the handbrake clicks 6 times which is not excessive. the mot manual which states for obvious excessive travel it will fail. Section 1.1.6. the travel is not obvious or excessive. Now they're charging 25 for a retest for which it shouldn't have even failed. The tester should always give benefit of doubt to customer when testing a car. That is standard by dvsa. I phoned and said I'm not pleased with it and I don't think I should pay for the retest but they stuck with it and said our tester thinks it's a fail. No help or compromise at all. So I adjusted the handbrake and freed off the rear drum which was sticking (as advised and I also have a video shown of how free the wheel is moving)and then they still advise that. As if they've not even checked it in the retest. Not only that they've now added on an extra advisory on the retest for the other side slightly binding. Is this because I complained? Absolute joke They failed to even advise my 2 rear tyres which are 2mm across all tread. All videos are time and date stamped.

   Tried to go "local" and regretting it. Feel I have been overcharged. Update following reply received on 10/02/24: I expect good service and good value. Only the latter was questionable. I am not interested in having to justify my view, haggle or debate. I was given a reason why the price was so high, which didn"t make sense and felt a bit like an excuse honestly. Went ahead as I had to get my car fixed but not willing to return.

   The engine undertray on my Focus RS failed in the snow, turning it into a plough. I called LoK Balmedie and they said to come round. Within 10 minutes the failed part was removed and I was on my way. Fantastic friendly service. Top notch.

   I recently used Lawrence of Kemnay - Balmedie for a MOT inspection of my wife’s car and a MOT inspection and non MOT related work on my sons car. The garage is convenient given it is local and I find the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable with great communications regarding vehicle appointments (confirmation email and reminder txt) and the vehicle status ahead of pick up. I have no hesitation recommending Lawrence of Kemney - Balmedie and I will be returning.

   Been using this garage for years and have never been disappointed yet and neither has the friends and family i have recommended to go there. Went for an MOT at short noticed and was fitted in promptly and what i thought i wouldnt get done until after new year was done before Christmas giving me peace of mind over the festive period.    Really good. called them 9/7/21 to book car in for MOT and service for the following Monday today 12/7/21. Dropped car off at 8.20am, car was ready and cleaned 2pm. Def use again fair prices. Don't charge arm and leg like Arnold Clark

   Really friendly and quick service. Had a damaged heat shield, was able to be fixed with a couple of hours of being in the garage. Also the service was carried out free of charge, a big bonus! Have had MOT’s carried out here in the past as well, always to a top & quick standard. Would highly recommend!
