Enjoy shopping here but find some staff extremely rude. I understand it's busy but they obviously have no clue what customer service is

Extremely Disappointing and Illogical Experience at Aldi UK I visited the Aldi store on Horninglow St, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1NG on 11/24/2025 and left feeling profoundly disappointed and frustrated. I was shopping with my husband and our 18-year-old son, and we tried to buy 3 bottles of mulled wine. My son, who was helping us, was carrying one of the bottles. We understand the "Challenge 25" policy, and when asked, we were happy to provide proof of his age. Here is where the store failed completely: we offered a clear photograph of his driver's licence, which proves he is 18, but the manager REFUSED to even look at it. Consequently, we were prohibited from purchasing our items. This behaviour goes beyond rigid rule enforcement – it shows a complete lack of common sense and negates the very purpose of the policy, which is to verify age, not to refuse to verify it. Does this mean you can't buy alcohol if you're accompanied by your adult child? It's absurd. The manager was aggressive and unwilling to listen. A terrible experience. Until Aldi trains its staff to use judgment and logic, I cannot recommend this store.

Since the upgrade there's a lot of stock missing. Also, I'm getting tired of spending money on water melons that are too soft or hard and rotten Inside. Other than the above the staff are great, especially the female cashiers. They are always happy for a natter which of cause, in my opinion, is part of the whole shopping experience. There's nothing worse than being rushed at the till.

Super busy store just on the edge of the town centre. Large free car park and nice to go in early afternoon, or late or early in the day. It's a smaller and older style store, but has all the items. Sadly it's just too busy for a town centre store. Great place to pop into when you are in town.

Too small for the ammount of people in burton using it. Aisles too small. Car park too small. Compared to the new stores in Swadlincote the experience here is horrible. Have to go at opening time as its just too busy. Needs a second store in burton.

Big store, nice layout. The fridges have doors which is a nice touch. Its spacious and the parking is ample. The only issue is its on such a busy main road.

Modern, clean and well stocked with the ranges they carry. Always competitively priced, just lacking the wider variety of the big name supermarkets.

My first and last visit to Aldi. I went to see what the hype was about as I've heard raving reviews about what other shoppers had bought. As soon as I went in, there were loads of people raiding the fridges as though there was food shortage! Each aisle was mayhem with people parking the trolleys in the middle of the aisle and wondering off. God forbid, I politely excused my way through - if looks could kill!!! I don't think it's as cheap as people make out so I wouldn't go there again!!!!

Always great fresh produce available. In the past I would avoid as there was always queues for tills. However they have since installed self-serve checkouts which I prefer to use.
