Fantastic and currently under-appreciated spot in the centre of Reading. Great for hanging out, grabbing a coffee or a snack, with films and games of you're so inclined. Often hosting events too, which are great for a sense of community and allow you to support local makers and businesses.

This WAS a great place to go but it is a shambles now. Aircon doesn't work in several screens. Toilets are blocked (and disgusting). The disabled lift is broken. Then there is the food and drinks. Or lack there of. The cafe downstairs closed. The pizza placed closed. The snacks upstairs dried up months ago and staff give the same tired answer of "there is an order in". But they've been saying that for months.

I really want to support our local independent cinema, but this visit was disappointing. On arrival, I noticed a sign asking customers not to bring in outside food or drink, which is understandable. However, when we went upstairs, half of the venue was closed — including the food counter. We bought popcorn and asked if they had other snacks like chocolate, but were told they didn’t. Given the very limited options, the “no outside food” policy felt a bit unfair. On a Saturday, I was also surprised at how quiet it was, though after this experience I can see why. It’s such a shame, as I’d love to keep coming here, but I probably won’t be returning anytime soon.

We’ve been here a couple of times now and my family just love the ambience. I also love the fact they have some great beers on tap, to be enjoyed whilst watching the movie. Knocking one star off though due to the temperature - the first time we went it was a bit cold due to the air con. Last night I went in jeans and a long sleeve top and it was sweltering hot with seemingly no air con!

This was my first visit to the Reading Biscuit Factory. We attended to see "The Tragedy of Macbeth." I was excited as this was the first film that Joel Coen had done alone and I had an idea of how the film would transpire as I had watched many reviews on the subject. In retrospect, I wish that we had arrived earlier to have a seat and read some of "Macbeth." The members of staff were friendly. The cinema was slightly too dark and we were informed that it was attributable to some sort of fault. I concede that they usually are dark, but this one was overly so. As I had not been there before, navigating it was slightly tricky. There were not that many people in attendance, which was good. I find it hard to enjoy a film when there are loads of people in close proximity. ***I attended this place again to watch "Belfast." I recommend the film as it is deeply moving and a concerted effort was made to maintain the historical accuracy, such as The Matchbox Cars and the programmes which were shown on the television. Judi Dench is brilliant and it is nice to see older women having decent roles in films. One of the audience members got up immediately as soon as the film commenced. At first I did not know what he was doing, but it turned out that he was closing the door to the theatre, which was really considerate. As usual, the members of staff were really nice. There was also a painting on display and I was captivated by it. Please feel free to take a look in my photographs, which I have posted.*** ***Attended this place again to see "The Duke," brilliant film. The reason why I am adding to my review is that I was really impressed by one of your members of staff. He has long, curly hair and appears to be in his early 20s. He was just really nice and polite.***

Coffee is tremendous, best place in town. They serve good milk alternatives if you are into that - oatly. Croissants are very good, different to Gail’s for example. Less crispy. Priced reasonably too for an independent. Upstairs has loads of space for whatever your into, working, catching up or on some days there is a baby club. All in all, the best coffee place in town. Yet to check out the cinema, but if the seats do not recline I think I will stick to showcase!

Another hidden gem right in the middle of Reading. Tucked away in a corner on the outside of Broadsteet Mall near the Ramada hotel is this fantastic place. At ground level it’s a coffee shop with tasty treats, then upstairs it really opens up into clean, simple, useful and welcoming work space, chill out areas, bar and cinema screens. Quite an offering all under one roof. You have to give it a go to fully appreciate it.

The place is open but it’s not quite there. I got my decaf coffee that was great taste. Definitely will try again on next visit. The decor is contemporary and ambience reasonably ok but the whole place lacks the charisma of hustle bustle. There are three cinema screens on the first floor and a bar. There are a few kiosks boarded up and hopefully will be occupied in future with more goodies to buy. The staffs are quite helpful and try to answer queries to the best of their knowledge. Hopefully it’ll improve with time but was only about 5% full one evening in late August.
