Recently moved to The Village Surgery after moving house. Really pleased with the service I’ve received so far, the receptionists can’t do enough for you and Dr Saleem Mir was so kind and understanding of my concerns. I managed to get a double appointment and cover 3 seperate topics and have already been referred for 2/3 of them. Really thorough and efficient service, thank you again.

I recently changed to The Village Surgery, I am amazed at the level of care I have been given. In less than 2 weeks, I fully appreciate how busy they are , but they have gone above and beyond wow! Thank you to all at the Village Surgery !

I’ve been with this doctors’ practice for years, but unfortunately I’ll be moving on due to the booking system. The only way to make an appointment is to ring at a very specific time in the morning. If you try to call in the afternoon, they won’t book you in. This has been incredibly frustrating, especially for people with jobs or children, as mornings are usually the busiest time. Some workplaces don’t even allow phone use until break times, making it nearly impossible to secure an appointment. While many of the staff are lovely and helpful, my most recent experience with the receptionist left me very disappointed. The person I spoke to showed little understanding or empathy, which made the process even more stressful. Other practices now offer online booking, which is far more convenient and accessible. After years of struggling with this system, I’ve sadly decided to move to a different practice that provides a more modern and patient-friendly service.

The service, which was once appealing, is unfortunately deteriorating. I had an early issue unrelated to war wax. The receptionist insisted to be seen by the pharmacist instead of a clinician. I tried to explain my problem, she did not listen and repeatedly interrupted. Eventually, i agreed to see the pharmacist as the receptionist seemed insistent ( this is a recurrent issue with the same receptionist). Some reception staff are more helpful than others. The pharmacist examined at midday and confirmed an infected spot. No treatment. By the evening, it worsened to the point that I could not open my mouth. Called 111, directed to emergency clinic at late night, prescribed antibiotics. Unfortunately, I could not get medication that late, leading to treatment delay for more than 24 hours! This is 21st century! It would ve happened if I got my appointment earlier. Should we blame the health service system ???

Having seen some of the reviews I would like to give my opinion on my families experiences at the practice. My nan has been unwell recently and yes I understand there is a frustration around gp appointments recently and I believe this is widespread but as soon as the gps saw my nan was unwell, they responded with care, compassion and did everything possible to help her . I cannot thank them enough for their care and attention and she is now back to full health having regular checks to keep an eye on her progress. All staff even down to the reception ladies went above and beyond. Keep up the good work!

I’m going to be doing everything in my power to report this surgery From leaving me this poorly for 3 years with no answers to now risking my job life and everything else they’ve done nothing but ruin my life from the day I registered. They are worthy of being called a practise and I refuse to stop now untill this place is investigated absolutely disgusting how they treat patients.

Despite the deserved and excellent glowing reviews this practice receives - I still see that the overall rating appears low on google. This is purely because in the past - some some 'winging' and impatient, rude patients have stated to be unhappy and felt it necessary to groan online. Under difficult circumstances (especially recently) I am delighted to report, again, that the entire team at the Village Surgery do a brilliant job. During extended spells abroad I received numerous communications checking I was keeping up to date with medication and vaccinations - What care and service!! To the moaners I suggest that if you treat the staff at Wolstanton with the respect they deserve - and show gratitude and patience - you may well change your opinions and review or delete your dreadful and critical unfair comments. I would like to thank Dr.Mannion for his excellent service to the practice . An outstanding doctor who always gave his best , highly knowledgeable with astute expertise in his prognosis. I had great trust in this doctor who gave me confidence in knowing I would always receive the best possible attention and care . I wish him well in his much deserved retirement but I am extremely sad as he will be impossible to replace . Friendly , caring doctor with immense experience who gave outstandingly service in a very personal manner . Truly outstanding !
