What a gem! I don't know if I got lucky with room 10 or just due to booking early, but all I can say is wow! Very spacious, double aspect twin room. The views of the lake were breath taking and perfecr for people watching. Large bathroom with bath and shower which was a lovely suprise, all looked to have been freshly decorated. The breakfaat was delicious, with a large choice of fresh fruit, cereals, pastries and full english on offer. Staff were very pleasant, private carpark was very handy aa parking would have been difficult in Buxton itself. Hotel location waa ideal, lovely walk through the park to the shops, cafes, resturants and opera house. Or walking the opposite direction to pooles cavern and national park for a day out walking. Great value for money and will definitley be returning

Unfortunately this is not a four star hotel but more of a B & B. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the Opera House where we were attending the Frankie's Guys show. Bedroom was a reasonable size and had a full size wardrobe and plenty of drawers for clothes. Our bathroom had a bath which is a must for us and we had plenty of hot water for our daily baths. We always take our own shampoo, conditioner and bath products.. a good job we did as there was only 1 product available in the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent with freshly cooked hot breakfast plus a small continental.

We booked a 2 night stay rang the door bell to be greeted by what’s the name.. said nothing under our name, blamed a temp they had in although he then said I can remember talking to you, we showed him confirmation email and still nothing.. then got told next door hotel has one night in which I turned around and walked away by which time my partner had 2 nights booked in the old hall hotel.. i would recommend they start checking emails if they are blaming temps and also greet people with a polite hello or welcome and an apology would of been nice.

Lovely few days last week at The Westminster Hotel. Great location overlooking the Pavillion Gardens. Delicious breakfast. Thank you for making our stay an enjoyable one. I'm sure we will return in the future. Best wishes, Christine & Philip Radcliffe & Mick & Sharon Bloor.

On the whole, our stay was enjoyable but our first impression was disappointing, to say the least…I wish to point out that we have stayed in many hotels around the world and that seldom if ever, have we encountered such unwelcoming attitude and ungracious behaviour as that exhibited by the yawning gentleman who opened the door to let us in at our arrival! He is obviously ill-suited for relations with guests… What a contrast with the very pleasant lady who served us excellent breakfast the next morning with a warm smile.

Great place to stay in Buxton. Got a beautiful lake in the front and a good walking or jogging path. Walking distance to Poole's cavern and trail walks. .

A basic, old style British B&B but in a great, central location. It felt like you were staying in the home of an elderly relative. I think the 4* rating is pretty unrealistic. The room was very small and basically appointed, but it was clean and tidy. The water pressure in the shower was almost was non-existent, and the pillows were dreadful. View from the room was over the fire escape and the TV was not really suitable for use (it was about the size of a laptop screen). Kettle in room, but very little else in terms of facilities. The curtains were very thin and let the light in. Parking was available but the spaces were tight and you may struggle with a bigger car. Breakfast was an awkward affair with all guests jammed into one room talking in hushed tones. No options or menu provided, but the food was decent enough. We didn't find the staff particularly friendly or engaging and we felt like an imposition. Wouldn't return.

Room was adequate for 2 nights, but a few concerns. Bed very creeky and noisy each time you moved. Shower was only a trickle of water and toilet flush caught shower each time used. Alsi one power socket didn't work. Other rooms on reading, seem to be better. Positives. Tea and coffee in room. Drawer space. Breakfast was adequate and staff very pleasant. Good location for park, town etc., on site parking a bonus.
