The jacuzzi was absolutely rancid, would never go back. The room had a damp smell just rotten

Squirrel Lettings ★★★★★
A very high specification ancient barn conversion, designed around children and pets. Completely secure gardens, hot tub, zip wire, swings and slide, toys, BBQ, table and chairs. Everything you can imagine and more.

I regularly visit Squirrel Barn with my children and my family and we have a wonderful time. My daughters LOVE the princess themed room, the hot tub and the zip line most. I love loosing them out and letting them burn off their energy while I sip a glass of Prosecco on the deck. Highly recommended.

Overall, the kids had fun, which is the most important thing, although I do feel they would have had fun in any house with toys in the garden, there was nothing out of the norm that stood out. The price of £3,500 for 4 nights (check-in at 3 pm, check-out at 10 am) was not worth it. The price was increased by 100% due to it being a bank holiday weekend. When prices are increased significantly, one would expect everything to be close to perfect, but it was far from that. Here is my honest feedback: 1. The beds were very uncomfortable. 2. The hot tub was absolutely filthy. Despite the owner sending someone to clean it for over 3 hours, it was still dirty. As a pool plant operator, I can confirm that it was not just leaves and bugs as the owner suggested. The hot tub should have been properly maintained and cleaned before our arrival, considering the price we paid. "it gives us a good excuse to clean it" was an unwelcome quote from the owner, I feel like it should always be cleaned well before guests arrive. 3. There were hardly any utensils/glasses etc in the kitchen, and the welcome pack was minimal, with low-quality items (this did not scream value for money but instead, how cheap can we make this so we maximise margins) 4 x Aldi dishwasher tablets for example, I mean come on, just put the box in it is £3.29 (40). For the amount we paid, we expected much better provisions. 4. The attention to detail was poor overall. Many things were not up to standard, and for the price we paid, we expected better quality. 5. Charging extra for scrap wood was disappointing. Given the high price we paid, it was unreasonable to be charged for something as basic as old pallet wood for the fire. 6. Some games were missing pieces or parts, making them unusable. 7. The boiler was emptied, and it took 8 hours to fill up again, leaving us unable to shower. This was especially inconvenient for the kids after using the dirty hot tub. 8. The oven and hob were broken, and although we were informed that it happens every 6 months or so and will start working again, it was an inconvenience that could have been easily fixed for £250. It took us hours to get them working. 9. The Big outside bin was already full on arrival and we were told to store rubbish inside near the front door. Days worth of built-up rubbish and food waste. Again, paying £3,500 and we can't even use a bin. It is very poor. The solution should have been they come and collect it daily and dispose of it how they need to. I feel it was poor value for money. Even if we had paid the normal price of £1,800, I would still have felt the same. It seems like the property has not been properly maintained, and for the price charged, we expected a much better experience. I feel margins are on the mind, not standards and service.

I didn't actually stay here but from the fantastic review from friends I picked up, they were over the moon with what was available for them, the children didn't stop, zip wire, endless list of equipment and each of the 14 rooms had a tv with fire sticks for Netflix etc, inside was a mac and computer games, loads of board games and also the hot tub was ready for arrival, massive bbq, large tables for a big family get together. Brilliant by the look of it.

Perfect place for a big family, there was 14 of us and plenty of room. The barn is well equipped to entertain all adults and children, and the bed are really comfortable.

Stayed at Squirrel Barn with friends recently (5 adults and 5 children). A lovely barn and the owners were extremely welcoming. Kids absolutely loved the zip line and hot tub!

Tried to book this accommodation through Airbnb. The booking was confirmed and payment taken. Then I got a message off David saying unfortunately it was already booked up and he asked me to cancel the booking ! I refused and asked him to cancel it through Airbnb support. The property then appeared on the listing at more than double the price and, therefore, wasnt booked up! The host is dishonest. He then sent me a sarcastic message saying they are posh and don't charge cancellation fees or change of date fees even when it's booked up!! If he'd been honest we would have taken relatives a long too and paid the price he wanted to let it out for. Instead he told us a pack of lies.

Stayed recently for a long weekend away. Nice location, easy to find, nice property just missing adequate living space within the property and in need of a bit of an overhaul. Seemed tired and a bit unloved. Fabulous kitchen, but the lounge area is not big enough given the number of people the property is able to sleep. The garden is untidy, with broken kids toys all over it, a filthy paddling pool that no one in their right mind, would let a child near. The hot tub is half a tub and the decking and ballastrad around it could do with a lick of paint and a repair to it. Other than that it's a nice place to for a short break away.

Lovely little hideaway cottage! Outside could do with a MIT of a tidy up but on the whole it was a lovely place.
