The food was terrible no seasoning, I don't understand how you can manage to burn half of the meal and undercooke the rest, not to mention it was Β£25 for 2 courses l. The restaurant is trying to hard to be something it's not. Would definitely not come again

Good local, only used the bar. Some decent traditional ales, just a bit pricey. Seating isn't the best if all the fixed seats are taken, other seats are like stools/bench with trestle. On the whole a decent pub.

First visit to The Spittal Brook and absolutely blown away! I had the nut roast and my fella had the beef β and honestly? It was one of the best roast dinners we've had out. My nut roast was hands down the best Iβve ever had in a pub. Herby, perfectly salted, with just the right amount of nuts. Iβm pretty sure it was homemade, and the flavour and texture were exquisite. Veggie gravy was lush, and while the roasties werenβt crispy, they were light and fluffy β no complaints here! The veg was cooked just right (hello Goldilocks standards), and everything was served in bowls so the plate didnβt get overcrowded. My fella had the beef and it was melt-in-the-mouth perfection. Generous portion and cooked spot on. He cleared his plate before I blinked. The only slight downer was that the veggie roast didnβt come with a Yorkshire pud β I added one, but it cost me Β£1.50. That said, the staff were lovely and double-checked with the chef to make sure it was vegetarian (no beef dripping etc), which I really appreciated. Service was excellent β attentive, friendly, and really accommodating. We booked for 1pm and it was peaceful when we arrived, though it started to fill up by 1:30. All in all? Incredible food, lovely atmosphere, and very reasonable prices. Canβt wait to come back!

Hubby, me and Hugo our dog. Just visited this wonderful traditional pub. Great service , fantastic accommodation for our dog. And the Sunday lunch was amazing, David had Pork Lion with amazing crackling and I had brisket of beef wow wow wow. Absolutely delicious! Sorry didnβt have a pudding as we were too full. Will try next time.

We went for a celebration meal. The pie of the day was Chicken & Mushroom, the pastry was shortcrust and was delicious. The Vegetable Wellington was scrumptious and as for the double burger, itβs the best burger Iβve ever tasted, proper handmade patties and the sweetest bacon. Sadly I didnβt finish the burger, so took some of it home for the dog, who wolfed it down. A cracking choice of real ales. As itβs a small pub, as good as the service was, itβs not the quickest, but due to the quality of the food, we didnβt mind waiting. The other downside was the parking, there was a poker night on, so it took some doing to get the car out. The locals were friendly so we didnβt have to wait long to get away. We will be back.

Such a busy pub. The food was beautiful (definitely compliments to the chef) and after a really long busy day I was able to have a pub meal and drink up in my room. The bathroom was a little small but I was only there for 1 night, the room was pleasantly decorated and loved the selection of biscuits left for the morning. Only complaint was that the room was right next to train track, there was an artist on in the evening so it was really noisy. The bed was a little hard but I slept well and even though the radiator was on full it was a little chilly. The owners are absolutely amazing lovely people. Helped me get to the train station after taxi companies refused due to the Stafford half marathon. I really cannot fault them. Thank you again Becky and Mark. Will definitely look to stay again.

Slight problem with our meals was sorted immediately with a smile and apology. Excellent food and ale, would recommend highly.
