We paid for a basic room and that is what we got. However, the bathroom was completely freezing. The bedroom itself wasn't particularly warm but just about ok. The main house is exceptional and we loved it, especially with the Christmas decorations. Good food and great ambience.

The whole experience was truly wonderful. The setting/hall was amazing. The decorations, the tree , lighting everything was magical we all felt very festive. The food and service was second to none and staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were welcoming and very cozy. There was adequate βsupplies in the room. The only downside was the room we stayed in, The Beech room was directly above the reception and with people outside waiting for taxis/lifts home we didnβt get to sleep until after 2pm, maybe wait inside in future and have some respect for those staying over. The breakfast in the morning was very much needed however not the wait for it, over 45mins after ordering. Some people who came in after us were served and left before we received ours. All in all everyone agreed it was an amazing evening, we stayed last year as well and again really enjoyed the stay.

A beautiful hotel with very attentive staff. As soon as we arrived we felt at home with a traditional key lock (rather than plastic fob card), and a gorgeous cat! The beds were comfy, though the pillows were not good for me. The bathroom is a bit worse for wear (oak room), but we didnβt mind as it felt like we were in someoneβs home. The breakfast was very nice and everyone was so friendly. We were greeted with βgood morningsβ as we came in, even from other guests ! The grounds are lovely too.

Everyone know the location is lovely, the building etc. Afternoon tea. Β£27.50 worth the price, NO. I only ate 2 finger cheese and onion (this was a quick swap and thank goodness or else I wouldn't have eaten any) Chicken wrap tasted of fish, so these were left. I tried each of the 5 treats, Γ©clair was the only tasty one for me. I had a 3rd of the scone, tasteless, the cream wasn't nice at all. As pretty as the afternoon tea looked, it wasn't for us. No staff came to ask for drinks, one point we had to stop and ask. Three staff came to log the fire, which was next to us, but no offer of drinks. We left the setting area, once in the corridor, we were asked three times by three different staff if we had finished, they were shocked at how much was left. I would recommend other places. I love an afternoon tea, just not this one.

Loved this place. Our first time there for just one night to celebrate our anniversary. Will definitely be going back as we both felt so relaxed there. Beautiful settings and garden, great for heading out on a walk. Decor and ambience just lovely. Food was excellent (and not 'messed with' as my husband would say!). Our room, which was upgraded so very kindly and much appreciated, was brilliant. Wonderful views from large double aspect windows. Thank you.

This genteel hotel sits unobtrusively on the rolling hills just south of Stoke, and calms you before you even reach the front door. The staff were the most incredibly friendly people, and accommodating to all our needs and wants (except the recipe for the oatcakes!). We checked in quickly, easily and efficiently. Our room was very comfortable, with a beautiful view from a semi-private balcony across the expansive grounds of the hotel. Dinner was amazing, the salmon en croute was delicious, and the samphire a perfect accompaniment. The crab bisque was delightful. The pork belly was sublime. The entire meal was outstanding. We slept well on a very comfortable bed in total silence. Breakfast (included) was quite amazing, with a wonderful selection of cooked food alongside a wide range of cereals, toast and spreads, and a selection of juices. The coffee was excellent. We definitely recommend the Upper House hotel to anyone looking for an old fashioned country house hotel in a quiet and elegant location. Thanks too all the staff, who made our stay all the better for their friendly and excellent service.

Attended a wedding here and it was wonderful, staff were great, buffet was excellent, good variety of drinks on offer. A little expensive but in line with what you'd expect for this kind of venue. Plenty of free parking out front and easy to find with the sat-nav. Would recommend as a wedding venue but I didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms.

Great location and great price. Albeit a short stay perfect for a night stop. Nice building and grounds. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was varied and good quality. Room was ensuite, shared balcony (due to building design), and rather comfortable. Only minor criticism is the walls seemed a bit thin. Could hear next doors alarm clock in the morning. Investment in sound proofing wouldn't go a miss in the future. All in all though a far better option than the chain hotels in Stoke.

A very charming place. As for a visitor from abroad, you can feel here like in real England. The location of the object is very peaceful and quiet. The facility itself, despite its age, has its own unique charm and is very clean and well-preserved. I can recommend it to everyone and no one should be disappointed with a stay here.

The Upper House has been the best experience we have had in a long time. The rooms are clean and spacious, the bathroom is well equipped, but the most important thing is that the staff is extremely friendly and make you feel at home. The breakfast and dinner is amazing. So much eye for detail, taste and quality, unbelievable. The location where the hotel is situated is stunning. Beautiful views ...... thanks for an amazing stay !!!!
