Shop is great, really friendly people but fishing was tough and slow especially for the day ticket price. I don’t think it was great value for money. Nevertheless, it was a good day out.
Fantastic shop for fly fishers. Amazing range of gear and fly tying materials. More importantly REALLY friendly helpful staff and and helpful experienced fishers all around the place. I went in for a few bits and ended up testing out a couple of rods. Chris was really kind in showing me the differences and even gave me some top tips on how to be a better caster. First class - I’ll be going back for a proper lesson on the lake soon.
I only started using this fishery this year. I wish I had found it sooner. The shop staff are so knowledgeable and helpful to all your needs and the well stock lake is the cherry on the cake.
I have only positive things to say about Sportfish; both the online team (specifically Toni) and the in-store team (specifically Robin) have been fantastic. Toni from the online team went above and beyond to liaise with the in-store team for a replacement part for a previous order of mine, saving a planned fishing trip + lesson. Robin has been a wealth of knowledge and a tremendous help in getting me started in fly fishing. From detailed product information to general casting advice (when I was having issues I couldn't diagnose), any question I had was answered promptly and thoroughly. I look forward to visiting again soon.
Really great place. Beautifully landscaped and a great shop on sight to pick up anything from small bits to full set ups. Staff are really knowledgeable, had a casting lesson with Robin who was fantastic. Easy to get to from the station so handy for Londoners too. Also a bonus- the trout from here are delicious !
Very impressed with Sportfish! Ordered my Simms Flyweight Jacket on a free delivery service, but it arrived within 24 hours professionally packaged and with two discount vouchers included. Love the jacket! Will definitely be back to spend those vouchers soon!
Came into the store a few days ago to ask many questions about fly fishing as I’m new to it. Staff were extremely helpful, not trying to just make money out of me. I will be returning in the coming weeks for some kit and a couple of lessons to get me going. Thank you for your honest advice, it’s been very helpful and given me more confidence. P.S. As Orvis London has closed down came down here to purchase a new pair of waders and boots . The two hour journey was well worth it . Set in which felt like Apple Park the corporate headquarters of Apple surrounded by trout lakes . Have to say Simon was outstanding. Jonathan was spot on . Really appreciate your expertise. It almost felt like going to fly fishing heaven to purchase ones waders . Amazing experience. Thanks guys
