We had a lovely lunch here today. Fabulous service with a very polite waiter, Max. Gorgeous festive decor. Clean and everything presented well.
Went on Monday 15th December with friends for Christmas meal . The Turkey Roast had to be sent back because it was cold & they put it in the Microwave that was for 6 of our group .2of us had Duck which was so tuff it was inedible sent it back but was not offered an alternative, given another Duck Breast which was just as bad . I'm very sorry but it was £28 down the drain. Would never recommend them to anyone. The local Fish & chips would have been better.

So went for a father's day breakfast. What a mistake. The order was wrong, and the food was not good! My eggs and Salmon didn't have the dill, and lemon yoghurt was missing, then took an age to come, so I cancelled it as already finished. My wife and daughter had breakfast hash. One with a poached eggs, looked a mess, wrong style of bacon, cold food on both. We complained to manager and server, didn't pay for breakfast only drinks and a side. WILL NOT BE BACK. Service 4 -10 Food 3-10 Clean 7-10 Value for money 7 -10 We tried a number of times to get in on different dates, but always late opening, so moved on to somewhere else. Great place! Didn't even realise they did brunch/breakfast. Great value ,friendly staff. Will certainly come back. Go for a try was good... Update Dinner. Went for an early dinner. Had Salt and Pepper squid to start, it was nice little greasy but nice. Mains were the special Pork Belly glazed with caramel, it was very good really Juicy and tasty. I had the Ribeye steak,cooked to perfection and had a garlic and mushroom sauce. Really nice dinner. Service was ok ish, had to ask again for our drinks. But it was exceptional food.
Have come here a few times now. It is a beautiful pub with a lovely atmosphere and decor. There is a nice garden and the staff are friendly and courteous. However, the food was adequate at best. I have had much better from other similar pubs - (but a good selection on the kids menu). The toilets were nice and clean. Overall, a lovely pub, but room for improvement in the kitchen… If this pub had some better chefs, it would be 5 star.
Very nice atmosphere, but I'm afraid that is where the enjoyment ended. I had the mixed grill, but it was the most unpleasant meal I have had in a VERY long time. The steak was cooked to perfection for me (rare), but the cut was completely inedible. There was more sinue than meat. I managed about two or three bites before giving up. The chicken breast was as dry as the Sahara desert, but I managed to wash that down with my drink. I had to eat something. The rest was okay at best. Not a restaurant that I would recommend or come back to.
Popped in for lunch today (15/07/22) had a lovely super green salad with added salmon. Husband had the cheese and bacon burger and halloumi fries. Really tasty food, great service - would definitely recommend and we will be back.
Food was excellent and the service was fab,our waitress was really nice and attentive. For starters we ordered the sharing board, for mains we opted for Sunday roast rib of beef and the pork belly. Everything was cooked to perfection, I would highly recommend Shepherds House, its also dog friendly.
I've been to quite a few other Chef and Brewer pubs around the area, but none are as good as this one. The service was fast, with really friendly waiters and waitress. The pub was very well decorated having a warm welcoming feel about it. There's a large menu with something for everyone including lots of vegan options. Food was well cooked and very tasty.
