Delicious food and very friendly staff. Portions are huge and very good prices. Lots of veggie options, and gluten free options too. Highly recommend!
Lovely country pub in the Peak District. Food was delicious and huge portions! We ordered two starters - chicken liver pate and garlic mushrooms and three mains - BBQ ribs, seafood platter special and pork belly. It was in the area would return again. It is super busy though so need to book in advance! We came by on a Sunday night with the hopes of having their Sunday roast but hadn’t booked so unfortunately had to go somewhere else.
We recently stayed at the Royal Oak in Buxton and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The campsite is extremely well maintained, with excellent toilet and shower facilities that are spotless and modern – far better than many other sites we’ve visited. The pitch was great value for money, making it an ideal stop for anyone exploring the area. In the evening, we ate at the pub and were just as impressed. There’s a fantastic selection of beers and ales to choose from, perfect for winding down after a day out. The food was outstanding – I had the mixed grill, while my partner went for the sirloin, and both meals were cooked beautifully. To finish, we shared Bakewell tart with raspberry ice cream, which was the perfect indulgence and a real treat. What really made the visit special, though, was the wonderful staff. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, they made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. All in all, the Royal Oak offers great value, delicious food, and a warm, genuine atmosphere. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Buxton
Amazing food! Sunday after a fun family day out around Buxton! We booked and officially the chippy tea pictured below wasn’t on the menu for Sunday but we came specially and the server said he was sure they could do something!! At nearly 38 weeks pregnant it was so nice they went above and beyond for a meal I’d craved since we first popped in for a drink after a walk ( where the pub is at the end) a month ago. Last family of 3 pub treat! My husband had a game pie which was off the pie menu as well as our child had sausages and chips from the kids section. We had a coke, fruit shoot, beer, tea and a small bottled beer. The prices on the menu £22 for chippy platter may out people off but this was all quality home cooked food. For 3 people a main meal and a couple of drinks came to £66 pounds. When you think of chains in town that serve fast and variable quality food that usually comes to around 40-50 for 3 anyway. Spend the extra locally and enjoy quality home cooked food! So much choice and all the food that came out was of the same quality. Puddings looked amazing and lots of choice- we were obviously too full! We will be back again post baby Thank you so much!! Pure food joy was had by all of us today which is difficult as we all have different tastes!!
Arrived here on a cold & rainy Saturday morning for breakfast, it was warm and welcoming staff were polite and friendly. We were told to sit where we liked which is always a bonus and they were quick to take our order. A Latte and fruit juice arrived very quickly and then Maple syrup Pancakes and bacon twice, was lovely food great portion sizes and more than reasonable price, would definitely recommend!
Wonderful pub with very friendly staff. We walked from Chelmorton (~1 hour) through the rain and wind and we were greeted by staff who sat us at a table near the fire to dry off. They were very kind as they accommodated for our dogs who were also soaked through and cold. Food here is lovely, just a shame we didn't get to try more! The locals are also friendly and we had nice chats with a few people. The pub is quite big with lots of seating inside and outdoors.
This week we had two nights at the Pub's campsite. The facilities for the campers were spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and they did a walkabout each day to make sure we were happy with everything. On both nights we had a meal inside the pub. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. The food and drink was excellent. Thank you to all involved for providing such a great experience.
Great food, good vegan options. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. We'll worth the 20 mile bike ride! Ample bike storage. They even filled up our water bottles!
Lovely popular pub restaurant just off the main road at Hurdlow. All locally sourced ingredients making for some lovely food, and at decent prices too. Great staff keeping the punters happy. Recommend booking in advance as it does get busy so may not take walk ins. Both dishes we had were tasty and good size portions.
Lovely countryside pub. Super friendly staff, super polite and accommodative, lovely vibe. Staff knew things about drinks and dishes. Local produce, delicious food. We had the lamb shank and pork belly and it all came after a short wait and it tasted fresh and beautiful. We had the local keg beers and the larger in particular was very good. You can go for a nice countryside walk after your meal. Will definitely be back. Don’t forget to book though as it was fully booked when we went!
